EAST COAST OF NORTH ISLAND.
WITH reference to previous Notice to Mariners,
No. 11 of 1872,* concerning the position of
Cape Turnagain, the following extract from a letter
received from the Inspector of Surveys is published
for general information:-
"The true latitude of the Cape is 40° 29' 47" S.,
instead of 40° 22′ S., as given in the New
Zealand Pilot. The differences of longitude
agree so nearly that it is unnecessary to refer
to them until the Trigonometrical Survey is
complete."
This Notice affects the following Admiralty Charts,
viz.:-General Chart; Sheet IV.; also New Zealand
Pilot, pp. 104, 106, and 286.
EAST COAST OF MIDDLE ISLAND.
THE following information has been received from
the Harbour Master at Akaroa :-
"During late gale a single pinnacle rock was
discovered half a mile South by West from
edge of outlying reef at foot of South Head,
Akaroa Harbour; no kelp near. Discoverer
