ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
third day of January, 1872.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Gold Mining Districts Act,
1871," it is among other things enacted that
it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, under
his hand and the Public Seal of the Colony, from time
to time to delegate to such person as the Governor
in Council may deem fit, all or any of the powers
vested in the Governor by the said Act, except the
powers conferred by sections seventy and seventy-
one, or by subsection thirteen of section ninety-eight
thereof, subject or not to any limitations or re-
strictions, and in like manner to alter or revoke any
such delegation: And whereas it is expedient that
the Governor should delegate to the person herein-
after named the powers herein mentioned and set
forth:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the powers and authority in me
vested by the said Act, and by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Colony, do, by this order under my hand and the
Public Seal of the Colony, hereby delegate unto
THOMAS BANNATYNE GILLIES, Esquire,
the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, all
the powers vested in me under or by virtue of the
said Act, except the powers conferred by sections
seventy and seventy-one, and by subsection thirteen
of section ninety-eight thereof, to have, hold, and
exercise within the Province of Auckland the said
powers hereby given to the said Thomas Bannatyne
Gillies, so long as he shall be and remain Superin-
tendent of the said Province, and no longer: Pro-
vided that this delegation shall not have any force or
effect until the fifteenth day of January, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-two: Provided further,
that no rule or regulation made under the delegation
aforesaid, shall become or have the effect of law until
the same shall have been approved by the Governor
in Council, and st. 1 have been published in the
manner provided by he said Act.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and thirty-third
section of an Act of the General Assembly of
New Zealand, intituled "The Municipal Corporations
Act, 1867," it is enacted that it shall be the duty of
the Town Clerk of every borough, as soon as con-
veniently may be after every election of a Mayor for
such borough, to give notice to the Colonial Secretary
for the time being of such election, and of the person
elected; and it shall be lawful for the Governor, if
he shall think fit, and if such person shall not then be
a Justice of the Peace, by warrant under his hand,
published in the New Zealand Gazette, to appoint
such person to be a Justice of the Peace for the
Colony; and it is also thereby enacted that in every
such appointment it shall be expressed that it is
made under the one hundred and thirty-third section
of the said Act; and it is further declared that such
appointment shall continue in force only during
the Mayoralty of such person, and the person so
appointed shall not, by virtue of such appointment,
be authorized to sit or act as a Justice of the Peace
elsewhere than within the borough:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the said power and authority
in me vested in this behalf, do hereby appoint
GEORGE HENDERSON, Esquire,
the person elected to be the Mayor of the Borough
of Blenheim, to be a Justice of the Pence under
the one hundred and thirty-third section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."
