ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-eighth day of March, 1872.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Public Debts Sinking Funds
Act, 1868," it is provided that notwithstanding
anything in the Acts or Ordinances specified in the
Second Schedule thereto to the contrary, the Com-
missioners shall invest the moneys received by them
under the said Act, and the interest or other
profits accruing on any securities transferred, de-
livered, or vested in them under or by virtue of the
said Act, only in such bonds or debentures or other
securities as the Governor in Council shall from time
to time prescribe as securities in which investments
may be made by the Commissioners :
And whereas it is expedient that the said Com-
missioners should be authorized to invest such
moneys in the debentures authorized to be made and
issued under the twenty-ninth section of "The
Canterbury Rivers Act, 1870:"
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of New Zealand, and in exercise and pur-
suance of all powers enabling him in this behalf,
doth hereby prescribe the debentures authorized to
be made and issued under the twenty-ninth section
of "The Canterbury Rivers Act, 1870," to be (in
addition to other securities heretofore authorized)
securities on which the said Commissioners may
invest all such moneys as are referred to in the said
recited section of the said Act, or otherwise received
by them under the said "Public Debts Sinking
Funds Act, 1868," and any Act amending the same.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Contagious Diseases Act,
1869," it is, among other things, enacted that
it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, from
time to time to order and direct that all or any of
the powers, functions, duties, and authorities vested
in or required to be performed by the Governor, or
Governor in Council, by the said Act, within any
Province or District of the Colony within which the
said Act shall have been brought into operation,
shall be exercised or performed by the Superinten-
dent of any such Province, or by any other person
the Governor may think fit, subject however to any
limitations or restrictions as he may think fit, as in
the said Act mentioned: And whereas by a Procla-
mation made by the Governor under the provisions
of the said Act, on the twenty-seventh day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-
eighth day of March, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-two, the District in the Province of
Canterbury therein described and defined was de-
clared to be subject to the provisions of the said
Act: And whereas it is expedient that the Governor
should delegate to the Superintendent of the said
Province the powers, functions, duties, and authorities
hereinafter mentioned, to be exercised by him within
the said district:
Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Fer-
guson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and
authority vested in him by the said Act, and by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Colony, doth hereby order and direct that
