NOTICE is hereby given, that Arthur John Burns
and Co., of Mosgiel and Dunedin, in the Pro-
vince of Otago, Woollen Manufacturers, have applied
to register the following Trade Mark, viz. :—
"A. J. BURNS AND CO., MOSGIEL."
It is to be imprinted in ink of any colour upon
every yard of woollen cloth or other goods, and upon
the inside or wrong side of the goods manufactured
by the said A. J. Burns and Co.

Unity Independent Order of Odd Fellows in
New Zealand, Branch No. 3, of the Hokitika
District, Friendly Society,
duly certified, has been lodged with the Registrar of
Friendly Societies, registered and recorded in his
office under the provisions of "The Friendly Societies
Act, 1867."

General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister,
within the meaning of the said Act, is published for
general information:---

I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of Births,
Deaths, and Marriages in New Zealand, do hereby
certify that the foregoing Name of an Officiating
Minister, within the meaning of "The Marriage
Act, 1854," has been sent in to me in addition to
the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 7, of the 31st of January; No. 14,
of the 25th of February; No. 19, of the 18th
of March; No. 20, of the 27th of March; No. 23,
of the 13th of April; No. 24, of the 26th of April;
No. 27, of the 13th of May; No. 29, of the 20th of
May; No. 38, of the 4th of July; No. 43, of the
5th of August; No. 49, of the 5th of September;
No. 52, of the 23rd of September; No. 50, of the
20th of October; No. 57, of the 25th of October;
and No. 58 of the 3rd of November, in the present
year.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
thirteenth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-one.

PATENT for an Invention for saving the Gold
contained in Crushed Quartz Tailings from
Machines, Mullock, Alluvial Matter, or other sub-
stances with which it may be combined, the process
to be called "The Mercurial Percolation Gold Amal-
gamating Process," and the machines "Mercurial
Percolating Gold Amalgamators."
THIS is to notify, that CHARLES KILVINGTON CORN-
FORTH, in the Province of Auckland, Farmer, and
EDWIN ALFRED PLUMLEY, of the Province of Auck-
land, New Zealand, Dentist, did on the eighteenth day
of September last deposit at the office of the Patent
Officer, in the Colonial Secretary's Office in Welling-
ton, a specification or instrument in writing under
their hands and seals, particularly describing and ascer-
taining the nature of the said Invention, and in what
manner the same is to be performed, and that by
reason of such deposit the said Invention is pro-
tected and secured to them exclusively for the term
of six calendar months thence next ensuing.
And I do further notify, that the said Charles
Kilvington Cornforth and Edwin Alfred Plumley
have given notice in writing at my office of their
intention to proceed with their application for Letters
Patent for the said Invention, and that I have
appointed Friday, the second day of February next,
at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at my office, to
hear and consider the said application and all objec-
tions thereto; and I do hereby require all persons
having an interest in opposing the grant of such
Letters Patent, to leave on or before the twenty-
ninth day of January next, at my office in Welling-
ton, particulars in writing of their objections to the
said application, otherwise they will be precluded
from urging the same.
Given under my hand, this tenth day of November,
1871.
