A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Marriage Act Amendment
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor at any time, by Proclamation in
the New Zealand Gazette, to divide the Colony of
New Zealand, for the purposes of the said Act, into
such and so many districts as he may think fit, and
that every such district shall be called by a distinct
name, and shall be a Registrar's District; and it is
provided that the Governor may at any time revoke
the whole or any part of such Proclamation, and issue
a new Proclamation dividing the Colony or any part
of it anew into districts, or increasing the number or
altering the boundaries of districts, as from time to
time he may think requisite:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the sixth day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and fifty-nine, the Governor,
in pursuance of the said recited power and authority,
did amongst others constitute districts for the pur-
poses of the said Act, called the "Kaipara," "Manga-
wai," and "Mahurangi" Districts, the boundaries
whereof were therein set forth, which said Proclama-
tion came into operation and took effect on the first
day of October, one thousand eight hundred and
fifty-nine:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the nineteenth day of November,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, the
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power
and authority, did amongst others constitute districts
for the purposes of the said Act, called the "Wanga-
rei," "Mangapai," and "Waipu" Districts, the
boundaries whereof were therein set forth, which
said Proclamation came into operation and took effect
on the first day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-two:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the thirtieth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, the Governor,
in pursuance of the said recited power and authority,
did, amongst others, constitute districts for the pur-
poses of the said Act, called the "Auckland" and
"Tauranga" Districts, the boundaries whereof were

therein set forth, which said Proclamation came into
operation and took effect on the fifteenth day of
February, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five:

And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the twenty-fourth day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy, the
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power
and authority, did amongst others constitute a dis-
trict for the purposes of the said Act, called the
"Mohaka" and "Wairoa" Districts, the boundaries
whereof were therein set forth, which said Proclama-
tion came into operation and took effect on the
sixteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy:

And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamations as relates to the said districts,
and to divide anew the territory formerly comprised
within such districts:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by
the said recited Act, do hereby revoke the said
Proclamations so far as relates to the said districts,
and do proclaim and declare that the territory
formerly comprised within such districts shall be and
is hereby divided for the purposes of the said Act
into fourteen districts, the names and boundaries
whereof shall be as follows:---

WANGAREI DISTRICT.

Bounded towards the North by the southern
boundaries of the Kawakawa and Ruapekapeka
Blocks, from the north-eastern angle of the Hokianga
District to the south-eastern angle of the Ruapeka-
peka Block aforesaid; thence by a straight line in a
south-easterly direction to the source of the Ngu-
nguru River, and by the channel of that river to the
sea; towards the East by the sea from Ngunguru
River aforesaid to the Pataua River; towards the
South-west by the Pataua River aforesaid, and a
straight line in a southerly direction to the southern
boundary of the Tamaterau Block, and thence by the
southern boundary of the Tamaterau Block aforesaid
to the Wangarei Harbour; thence by Wangarei
Harbour aforesaid to the Mangapai River, and by
said river to the south-eastern boundary of the
