WELLINGTON, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1871.

G. F. BOWEN, Governor.
A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by Proclamation bearing date the
sixth day of September instant, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of the
same month, in pursuance and exercise of the power
and authority therein mentioned, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand did proclaim and declare
that, from and after the first day of September next,
the jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrates' Courts
for the Papakura District and Waiuku District re-
spectively, therein mentioned, should be extended to
fifty pounds: And whereas it was intended that the
said Proclamation should have been issued prior to
the first day of September instant, and that the same
should have taken effect from that date instead of
as in the said Proclamation appears: And whereas
by reason of the premises the said Proclamation has
failed in its intended operation, and it is expedient
to make other provision in that behalf:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power and authority
in me vested in that behalf by "The Resident Magis-
trates Act, 1867," do hereby proclaim and declare
that the jurisdiction of the Resident Magistrate's
Courts for the Papakura District and Waiuku District
respectively, as the same are defined by Proclamation
bearing date the twenty-ninth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, shall be
extended to Fifty Pounds; and that such extension of
jurisdiction shall take effect from and after Thursday,
the fourteenth day of September instant, instead of
from the date mentioned in the hereinbefore in part
recited Proclamation of the sixth day of September
instant.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington; and issued under
the seal of the said Colony, this thirteenth
day of September, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
one.
