IS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
grant Letters Patent under "The Patents Act,
1860," dated the 18th day of May, 1871, in favour of
JAMES MUNRO BERTRAM,
of Wangaehu, in the Province of Wellington, Farmer,
for an Invention " of a new method for preparing
Native Flax (Phormium Tenax), by the combination
of a number of simple mechanical processes succes-
sively applied in the order enumerated in the
specifications annexed to the said Letters Patent, for
separating the gum and other matter from the fibre
of the Native Flax."

delegate, under "The Waste Lands Act, 1858,"
to the Superintendents of the Provinces of Wellington
and Hawke's Bay, the powers vested in the Governor
by section 14 of the said Act, subject to be rescinded
as in the said Act provided.
