lington, which plan marked No. 3 has been authenti-
cated for the purposes of this Proclamation by the
signature of the Hon. William Gisborne, Minister
for Public Works; thence through same section 281,
in a south-westerly direction, for about 3 chains;
thence through same section in a general south-
easterly direction and crossing the old road for about
5 chains, also crossing the Whakapoukarakia Stream,
and entering portion of the proposed road reserve serve;
thence recrossing the old road into the aforesaid
section 281, in a general south-by-east direction,
for about 3 chains; thence crossing the old road
again and into the Road Reserve, in a general east-
by-south direction, for about 3 chains; thence
across said reserve, in a general south-by-east
direction, for about 3 chains; thence across the
aforesaid reserve in a south-by-west direction for
about 4 chains; thence partly across the reserve and
portion of old road, in a general south-by-east
direction, for about 9 chains; thence in a southerly

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The New Zealand
Post Office Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council, from time to
time, by Proclamation to be published in the New
Zealand Gazette, to fix, alter, and abolish the rates of
postage at any time payable within the Colony for the
transmission of letters and newspapers by post, either
between places within New Zealand or to or from
places beyond seas, and at what time the same shall
be paid, and that the postage so made payable shall
be charged and paid accordingly: And whereas, by
a Proclamation duly made and issued, bearing date
the sixth day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven, the Governor in Council did, in
pursuance of the said recited power and authority,
fix certain rates of postage, and the times at which
the same respectively should be paid: And whereas
it is desirable that the said rates should be altered as
hereinafter mentioned: Now therefore, in exercise
of the said recited power and authority, I, Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand,
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
thereof, do hereby alter the rates of postage fixed to be
paid within the Colony, and do proclaim and declare
that the postage payable within the Colony for the
transmission of all letters, newspapers, and packets
by post, to or from the countries and places mentioned
in the Schedule hereto, shall be according to the rates
mentioned in such Schedule; and that such postage
shall in all cases be paid at the time such letters,
newspapers, and packets are delivered into the post;
and that this Proclamation shall take effect from and
