The road commences in the township of Foxton,
Manawatu, at the east bank of the River Manawatu,
where the line of road from the township of Palmer-
ston abuts on the river bank of the said river, and
goes in an easterly and northerly direction, and is
bounded towards the South and East by a public road,
by Block V., by sections 170 and 168, by part of
Block VIII., by section 167, by part of Block
VIII., by a public road, by sections 50 and 51,
by a public road, by sections 65 and 66, by a public
road, by sections 84, 85, 88, and 466, by a public
road, by sections 265, 264, and 478, in the township
of Foxton; towards the North and West by a public
road, by a Government reserve, by sections 114, 113,
112, 111, 110, 109, 108, 107, and 106, by a public road,
by sections 105, 104, 103, 102, 101, 100, 99, 98, by
a public road, by sections 97, 96, and 95, by a public
road, by sections 91, 526, 525, 515, by a public road,

477, in the township of Foxton. From the northern
boundary of the township of Foxton the road proceeds
through Crown lands in a northerly direction for
four miles or thereabouts; thence in a general easterly
direction through Crown lands and through the award
of the Native Lands Court to Te Kooro Te One and
others, crossing the River Oroua at a point where
there is a bridge erected by the Provincial Govern-
ment of Wellington; thence proceeding through
Native land to Nga Whakarau; thence proceeding
through Native land to the western boundary of
the township of Palmerston, and through the said
township of Palmerston along a public road delineated
on the maps of the said township, numbered respec-
tively 5, 4, 6, and 8, and deposited in the office of the
Commissioner of Crown Lands at Wellington, the
boundaries being-On the South side by sections 89,
47, 46, 45, 44, by a public road, by sections 43, 42,
41, 40, 39, 32, 31, 30, by a public road, by sections
25, 22, 21, 20, 17, 16, 15, by a public road, by
sections 356, 357, 358, and part of 361, by a public

deviates from the said public road line and proceeds
through the sections Nos. 460 and 461, in the said
township of Palmerston, being Crown lands, and
thence proceeds through the sections Nos. 462 and
463 in the said township, being the property of one
Donald McKenzie, which portion of the road through
said sections Nos. 462 and 463 is shown upon a
certain plan marked No. 2 and thereon coloured yellow,
and deposited in the office of the Public Works
Department, Wellington, and which plan, marked
No. 2, is authenticated for the purpose of this Pro-
clamation by the signature of the Honorable William
Gisborne, the Minister for Public Works. The road
then crosses the River Manawatu and proceeds
through Crown lands on the south side of said river
to the western entrance of the gorge of the River
Manawatu, and proceeds along the south side of the
said gorge through Crown lands to the eastern boun-
dary of the Ahuaturanga block of land, and thence
along the southern side of said gorge through
Native lands to the crossing place, where it joins
the road line from Napier. The whole of the
said road line, from the commencement to the
termination, is delineated by a red line on the plan
referred to in the body of this Proclamation and
marked No. 1, and the breadth of said road line is
marked thereon, the estimated length of the said road
being forty miles.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At Wellington, this thirteenth day of March, 1871.
Present:
THE HONORABLE WILLIAM FOX, PRIME MINISTER,
PRESIDING, AND MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is by the sixth section of "The
Patents Act, 1870," enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time
to make such Rules and Regulations, not inconsistent
with the provisions of the said Act, as may appear to
be necessary and expedient for the purposes of the
said Act:
And whereas it is by the sixteenth section of the
said Act enacted that in case any letters patent
issued under the said Act shall be lost or destroyed,
other letters patent of the like tenor and effect, and
sealed and dated as of the same day, may (subject
to such regulations as the Governor in Council may
direct) be issued under the authority of the warrant
in pursuance of which the original letters patent
were issued:
And whereas it is by the nineteenth section of the
said Act enacted that every specification deposited at
the office of the Colonial Secretary as in the said
Act is mentioned, and the drawings and models
accompanying the same (if any), shall forthwith after
the grant of the letters patent, or if no letters patent
be granted then immediately on the expiration of six
months from the time of such deposit, be kept in such
office or place as the Governor in Council shall from
time to time appoint for that purpose:
And whereas it is by the twenty-third section of
the said Act enacted that the person or persons
applying to the Patent Officer for leave to enter a
disclaimer of any part of either the title to an
