WELLINGTON, FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 1871.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1870," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from time
to time to appoint Polling Places for each Electoral
District, within or within one mile of the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such Polling
Places to be the Principal Polling Place for the
district, and all or any of such Polling Places from
time to time to abolish, and, if he think fit, to appoint
other Polling Places in lieu of those abolished, and
that every such Warrant shall be published in the
New Zealand Gazette: Provided always that no
Polling Place shall be appointed by the Governor
under the said Act unless he shall be first satisfied
that the place to be appointed is more convenient
than any other for at least twenty electors to
record their votes thereat:
And whereas by Warrant under the hand of the
Governor certain places were appointed Polling
Places for the Province of Wellington for the
election of Superintendent thereof:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do
hereby abolish the above-named Polling Places for
the Province of Wellington for the election of Super-
intendent thereof, and do appoint in lieu thereof—
The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Wellington;
The Public Market Place of Messrs. Bethune
and Hunter;
The School House, Kaiwarawara;
The Residence of Dr. Taylor, Johnsonville;
The Residence of Mr. E. Giesen, Ohariu;
The Residence of Mr. J. Wall, Porirua;
The School House, Pauatahanui;
The School House, Karori;
The Residence of Mr. P. Trotter, Makara;
The Residence of J. F. E. Wright, Esq., Ohiro;
Messrs. Knights' Woolshed, Tiraumea;
The Premises of Mr. J. Cripps, Whareama;
The Premises of Mr. McLachlan, Tupurupuru;
The Premises of J. D. Baird, Esq., Otaraia;
The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Masterton;
The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Featherston;
The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Greytown;
The Town Hall, Carterton;
The Mechanics' Institute, Lower Hutt;
The School House, Taita;
The Stockade, Upper Hutt;

And I do also hereby abolish the existing principal
Polling Place for the Province of Wellington for the
election of Superintendent thereof, and do appoint in
lieu thereof—
The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Wellington.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued at Wel-
lington, this twenty-ninth day of March,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-one.
