And in further pursuance and exercise of the
authority aforesaid, I do hereby declare that the said
Court shall be designated by the name hereunder
specified, that is to say—

Designation of Court:
"The District Court of Taranaki."

Description of District :
"The Taranaki District" shall comprise the whole
of the Province of Taranaki.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and
over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral
of the same; and issued under the Seal
of the said Colony, at Wellington, this
thirtieth day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District
Courts Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by
Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette,
to bring into operation with respect to any District
Court, from and after a day to be named in such
Proclamation, either the whole of the said Act or
such sections thereof as to him may seem fit:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the said power and
authority vested in me for this purpose, do hereby
proclaim and declare that on the fifteenth day of
December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy,
the said "District Courts Jurisdiction Extension
Act, 1866," shall come into operation with respect to

"The District Court of Taranaki."

Courts Criminal Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1870,"
it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
from time to time declare that any District Court
shall have cognizance of all felonies and indictable
misdemeanours, as specified in the fourth section of
the said Act:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursu-
ance and exercise of the power vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that

shall henceforth have cognizance of all felonies and
indictable misdemeanours committed before or after
the passing of the said Act within the district over
which its jurisdiction extends, saving only the felonies
specially excepted in and by the fourth clause of the
said Act.

WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is provided that there shall be within the
Colony Courts of Record, to be called District
Courts, and the Governor is empowered, from time
to time, by notification in the New Zealand Gazette,
to fix the times and places within the district at
which every such Court shall be held: And whereas
by "The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865,"
it is provided that as to the times of the holding of
such Courts it shall be sufficient for the Governor, if
he shall so think fit, to fix the interval only within
which such Courts shall be held at each place; and
it shall in such case be lawful for the Judge of such
Court to fix the particular times and days for the
holding of such Courts in the manner and subject to
the provisions therein contained:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
in pursuance and exercise of the said power and
authority, fix that Sessions of the District Court of
Taranaki for civil and criminal business shall be
held in the Resident Magistrate's Court House, at
New Plymouth, in the Province of Taranaki, in every
year, at intervals of not less than six nor more than
seventeen days between the first day of each sitting.

Issued this thirtieth day of November, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by the
tion Act, 1870," I, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do by this Warrant under my hand,
revoke the appointment of John Chilton Lambton
Carter, Esquire, as Trust Commissioner for the
Hawke's Bay District under the said Act, and do
hereby appoint

HENRY BOWMAN SEALY,
of Napier, Esquire, to be a Trust Commissioner for
the Hawke's Bay District under the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
