TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1870," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from time
to time to appoint polling places for each Electoral
District, within one mile of the limits thereof, and to
appoint any one of such places to be the principal
polling place for the district, and all or any of such
polling places from time to time to abolish, and, if he
think fit, to appoint other polling places in lieu of
those abolished, and that every such Warrant shall
be published in the New Zealand Gazette: Provided
always that no polling place shall be appointed by
the Governor under the said Act unless he shall be
first satisfied that the place to be appointed is more
convenient than any other for twenty Electors to
record their votes thereat:
And whereas by Warrant under the hand of the
Governor, bearing date the fourth day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, the School
House, North Dunedin, was appointed a polling place
for the District of City of Dunedin, for the election
of Superintendents and Members of the Provincial
Council of the Province of Otago :
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same :
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do
hereby abolish the above-named polling place for the
District of City of Dunedin, for the election of
Superintendents and Members of the Provincial
Council of the Province of Otago.

Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued at
Wellington, this fifteenth day of October,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy.

"The Appropriation Ordinance, 1870–71,"
having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency
has not been advised to exercise his power of dis-
allowance in respect of it.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
CHARLES HAWKIN GREENSTREET, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, for the District of Ashburton, as the
same is defined in Proclamation of 6th day of July,
1859, and published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 21,
of the same date.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
grant Letters Patent, under "The Patents Act,
1860," dated 14th day of October, 1870, in favour of
FREDERICK SPEAR GREAVES,
of New Plymouth, in the Province of Taranaki,
Settler, for an Invention of a certain Process of
Smelting the Titaniferous Iron Ore or Sand lying on
the Sea Beach of the Province of Taranaki, and all
similar Deposits.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until the
tenth day of December, 1870, from persons
willing to supply the New Zealand Government with
Stationery, to be delivered free of expense in this
Colony, at such Port as the Government may indicate,
for the Twelve Months commencing on the 1st June,
1871.
- The value of all necessary packages, whether
bulk be broken or not, must be included in the prices
demanded, and the net weight or quantity only will
be paid for. - A bond for the sum of £1,000, the Contractor in
the sum of £500 and two approved sureties of £250
each, for the due performance of the contract, will be
required to be entered into within a month of the
acceptance of the contract. - The Tenderers will be required to forward
samples of the articles marked with an asterisk.

WHEREAS by the twenty-ninth section of "The
Native Lands Act, 1867," it is enacted that
"There shall be payable to the Valuers appointed by
the Registrar of Deeds, under the fifty-fifth section
of the said Act, by the person or persons who by the
said Act are liable to pay the duties, such fees for
making any such valuation as therein is mentioned
as shall be fixed by regulations to be made by the
Governor:" And whereas it is expedient that such
regulation should be made :
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor of
New Zealand, do hereby fix such fees as aforesaid by
the Regulation following, that is to say-For making
the valuation referred to in the fifty-fifth section of
"The Native Lands Act, 1865," there shall be paid
to each Valuer appointed by any Registrar of Deeds
under the said section of said last-named Act, by the
person or persons who by the said last-named Act
are liable to pay the duties, the following fees, that
is to say-
When the estate does not exceed 100 acres
in area or £100 in value
Exceeding the above and not exceeding 500
acres in area or £300 in value
