A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The District Courts
Jurisdiction Extension Act, 1866," it is enacted that
it shall be lawful for the Governor, by Proclamation
published in the New Zealand Gazette, to bring into
operation with respect to any District Court, from
and after a day to be named in such Proclamation,
either the whole of the said Act or such sections
thereof as to him shall seem fit:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance
and exercise of the power and authority vested in me
by the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that,
from and after the tenth day of October instant,
the said "District Courts Jurisdiction Extension
Act, 1866," shall come into operation with respect
to the District Court of Westland North and the
District Court of the County of Westland.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, at Wellington,
this first day of October, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy.

ance and exercise of the power vested in me by the
said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that

The District Court of the County of Westland
shall henceforth have cognizance of all felonies and
indictable misdemeanours committed before or after
the passing of the said Act within the district over
which its jurisdiction extends, saving only the felonies
specially excepted in and by the fourth clause of the
said Act.

from time to time declare that any District Court
shall have cognizance of all felonies and indictable
misdemeanours, as specified in the fourth section of
the said Act:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pur-
suance and exercise of the power vested in me by
the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that
