TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from
time to time to appoint polling places for each
Electoral District, within or without the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be
the principal polling place for the district, and all or
any of such polling places at any time to abolish and
to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof: And
whereas, by Warrants under the hand of the Governor,
Mr. Thomas Moorhouse's Woolshed was appointed a
polling place for the District of Ashburton, and the
School House, Kaiapoi Island, was appointed the
principal polling place for the District of Mandeville,
for the election of Superintendent and Members of
the Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act,
do hereby abolish the above-named polling place and
principal polling place for the said Districts, for the
election of Superintendent and Members of the Pro-
vincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, and
do appoint in lieu thereof-
Mr. Tancred's Woolshed, polling place for the
District of Ashburton; and
The School House, Woodend, the principal
polling place for the District of Mandeville.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same; and issued at Wel-
lington, this fifteenth day of January,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and seventy.

intituled "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor, by Warrant under his hand, from

the principal polling place for the district, and all or
any of such polling places at any time to abolish,

intituled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is
enacted that, subject to certain provisions therein
contained, every election of the Superintendent or of
a Member of the Provincial Council of a Province
shall be conducted in the manner prescribed by
"The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858," aforesaid,
and the provisions of the said last-mentioned Act
shall apply to the elections of Superintendents and
Members of Provincial Councils:
Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Acts,
do hereby appoint the following places to be ad-
ditional polling places for the districts hereafter
mentioned, for the election of Superintendent and
Members of the Provincial Council of the Province
of Canterbury, namely, -
For the District of Ashburton-Mr. Tooth's
Woolshed, Alford.
For the District of Mandeville-School House,
Eyreton; School House, Flaxton.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir

of Sandhurst, in the Colony of Victoria, gentleman,
of Letters Patent, dated thirteenth day of May,
1867, granted in the Colony of Victoria, for an
Invention intituled "Improvements in the Construc-
tion of Land Scarifiers."

Patent, granted in England, dated third day of
August, 1864, for "an Invention of Improvements
in Machinery for breaking, scutching, softening,
washing, discharging, and separating, Fibrous
Materials, part Machinery being applicable
for glazing or calendering Woven Fabrics."
