NOTICE is hereby given, that no transactions
affecting lands formerly awarded by the Com-
pensation Court, and the Native owners of which
have since been in rebellion, will be recognized by the
Government.
All persons are hereby cautioned to abstain from
dealing with any such lands till the Government has
determined the relations of the Natives with respect
to them.

IN the matter of "The Friendly Societies Act,
1867," notice is hereby given that a transcript of
the By-laws of
"The Loyal Hokitika Lodge, No. 5,429 Branch
of the Manchester Unity Independent Order
of Odd Fellows, Friendly Society,"
duly certified, has been lodged with the Registrar of
Friendly Societies, registered and recorded in his
office under the provisions of "The Friendly Societies
Act, 1867."

I, ALFRED WILLIAM SMITH, Registrar of Joint
Stock Companies, do hereby certify that I have
registered a Memorandum of Association, with
Articles of Association annexed, establishing a Com-
pany, with limited liability of the shareholders therein,
intituled
"The Otago Meat Preserving Company, Limited."
The objects for which the said Company is estab-
lished are--"For carrying on the business of meat-
preserving, and of selling in New Zealand, or shipping
and exporting to foreign ports for sale, the products
of such meat-preserving, either for or on behalf of the
Company or for and on behalf of other persons; and
the doing all such things (including the purchase of
sheep, cattle, and other live stock) as are or may be
incidental or conducive to the said business of meat-
preserving, and also for the doing of all such things
as may be requisite to make the most economic and
profitable sale, use, or disposition of the meats,
tallow, hides, skins, wool, hair, horns, offal and all
other appurtenances whatsoever, of all such oxen,
sheep, and other live stock as the Company shall so
purchase as aforesaid, or in which they shall have any
disposable interest whatsoever."
And I hereby further certify, that in pursuance of
"The Joint Stock Companies Act, 1860," I have
issued a Certificate of Incorporation of the said
Company, bearing date this sixteenth day of July,
1870.

REPUBLISHED in pursuance of Diseased Cattle
Acts.
PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861," it is
enacted that the Governor in Council may, by
warrant under his hand, from time to time, delegate
to the Superintendent of any Province or any other
person within the said Colony, all or any of the
powers vested in the Governor in Council by the said
Act, subject to such regulations as he may think fit,
and from time to time to rescind such delegation:
And whereas by an Order in Council dated the
third day of February, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-nine, His Excellency Sir George Ferguson
Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
and with the advice of the Executive Council of
the said Colony, did hereby delegate to me Conrad
Hoos, Chairman of the County Council of the County
of Westland, the several powers vested in him by the
second, fourth, fifth, seventh, ninth and tenth sections
of the said Act, subject to be rescinded as in the said
Act provided, and subject to the regulations issued
by the Governor on the eighteenth day of September,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, and to
any other regulations to be from time to time duly
made:
And whereas it has been made to appear to me that
it is necessary to revoke the seventh clause of the
regulations made under and in pursuance of the
powers delegated to me under "The Diseased Cattle
Acts," published in the County of Westland Gazette,
No. 4, of the 2nd of February, 1870, and to make
other provisions in lieu thereof: Now therefore, I,
Conrad Hoos, Chairman of the County Council of
Westland, in pursuance of the powers in that behalf
vested in me, do hereby revoke the aforesaid regula-
tion, and do make the following one in lieu thereof:--
All owners or persons having the custody, care, or
possession of any cattle within the said infected
district shall, within fourteen days from the 10th day
of July next, give a notice in writing, to the Inspector
of Cattle for the County of Westland, containing the
number of such cattle, the particulars as nearly as
can be of the place or places where such cattle are
kept or are, the colour and brands separately of each
beast; and if such owners or persons should lose any
such cattle by death, such owner or person shall
immediately give notice, in writing, to the Inspector
of Cattle aforesaid, and such notice shall contain the
colour and brand of each beast; and any person
purchasing, or receiving into their custody, care, or
possession, any cattle, shall immediately give notice,
in writing, to the Inspector of Cattle aforesaid,
stating the name of the person from whom purchased
or obtained, and the description, colour, and brand
of each beast separately; and if such owners or
persons shall neglect or refuse to obey this Regula-
tion, they shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding
ten pounds.
This Proclamation shall take effect on and after
the day next after publication in the New Zealand
Gazette.
Given under my hand, at Hokitika, this ninth
day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy.
