  • The "Electoral Districts" in the foregoing Table are those returning Members to the House of Representatives, as defined by the several Representation Acts of the General Assembly. The Population given for them does not include the Numbers in the Shipping in the various Harbours (viz., 2,164), or the Inhabitants of the Chatham Islands (viz., 184). These Numbers must therefore be added to the above Total to bring out the General Total of 218,668 for the Colony in December, 1867.
