A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor from time to time as he shall think fit, by
Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to con-
stitute throughout the Colony, or in any part thereof,
Districts within which District Courts shall be
respectively held, and such Districts to abolish, and
the boundaries thereof to define or alter:
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twentieth day of January, 1868, a District was
defined within which a District Court should be held
under the said Act and "The District Courts Act
Amendment Act, 1865," and it was thereby declared
that the said Court should be designated by the name
of "The District Court of Westland, North:"
And whereas by another Proclamation, bearing
date the said twentieth day of January, 1868, a
District was defined within which a District Court
should be held under the said Acts, and it was
thereby declared that the designation of the said
Court should be "The District Court of the County
of Westland:"
And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries
of the respective Districts so defined as aforesaid :
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance
of the power and authority vested in me by the said
Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and
after the first day of August, 1870, the boundaries of
the District within which the District Court of
Westland North shall be held shall be altered, and
that thenceforth the boundaries thereof shall be the
boundaries set forth in the First Schedule hereunder
written: And I do hereby further proclaim and
declare that, from and after the said first day of
August, 1870, the boundaries of the District within
which the District Court of the County of Westland
shall be held shall be altered, and that thenceforth
the boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries set
forth in the Second Schedule hereunder written.
THE FIRST SCHEDULE.
Boundaries of the Westland North District.
The Westland North District comprises so
much of the Province of Nelson as is bounded to-
wards the North by a line from the mouth of the
River Mackay to the summit of Mount Arthur;
thence towards the East by a straight line to
the junction of the River Gowan (otherwise called
Roturoa) with the River Buller, thence by a straight
line to the summit of Mount Princess, and thence
by a straight line drawn towards the saddle between
the Hurunui and Teremakau Rivers to a point on
the last-mentioned line due East (magnetic) of the
highest point on Mount Gore; thence towards the
South by a straight line to the last-mentioned point,
thence by a straight line to the saddle between the
Little Grey and Mangahua Rivers, thence by a
straight line to the highest point on Mount Faraday,
thence by the summit of the Paparohe Range to a
point due East (magnetic) of Razor Back Point,
thence by a straight line to the last-mentioned point;
and thence towards the West by the sea to the point
of commencement at the mouth of the River Mackay.

THE SECOND SCHEDULE.
Boundaries of the County of Westland District.
The Westland South District comprises the whole
of the County of Westland, and part of the Province
of Nelson; bounded towards the North by the
southern boundary of the Westland North District,
hereinbefore defined, from Razor Back Point to the
straight line between Mount Princess and the
Hurunui and Teremakau Saddle; thence towards
the south-east by part of the last-mentioned line, and
the summit of the watershed between the East and
West Coasts to the northern boundary of the Pro-
vince of Otago; thence towards the South by the
last-mentioned boundary to the mouth of the Awarua
River; and thence towards the North-west by the
sea to the point of commencement at Razor Back
Point.
