TURANGA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the southern
boundary of the Waiapu District, before described;
towards the East by high water-mark of the sea from
Mawai Point to latitude 38° 57' South; towards the
South by a straight line from the point last men-
tioned to the summit of the Whakapunake Moun-
tain; and towards the West by a straight line from
the summit of the Whakapunake Mountain afore-
said, in a north-westerly direction, to the eastern
boundary of the Opotiki District, before mentioned,
and by the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned
district, to the point of commencement.
MOHAKA AND WAIROA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the southern and
part of the eastern boundary of the Opotiki District,
hereinbefore defined; towards the East by part of
the western boundary of the Turanga District,
hereinbefore defined; again towards the North by
the southern boundary of the Turanga District
aforesaid; again towards the East, and towards the
South and South-east, by high water-mark of the sea
from latitude 38° 57' South, to the Waikari River;
again towards the South by the Waikari to its
source; thence by a straight line in a north-westerly
direction to the north-western corner of the Pro-
vince of Hawke's Bay; again on the North by
part of the northern boundary of the Province
of Hawke's Bay aforesaid, to the eastern boundary
of the Tauranga District, as the same is defined by a
Proclamation published in the General Government
Gazette of the 31st January, 1865, No. 3; and
towards the West by the eastern boundary of the
Tauranga District, before mentioned, to the south-
western angle of the Opotiki District, first men-
tioned, the point of commencement.
And I do declare that this Proclamation shall come
into operation and take effect on the sixteenth day of
May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of
Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor
and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its
Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same; and issued under the Seal of the
said Colony, at Wellington, this twenty-
fourth day of March, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Registration Act, 1858," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor at any time, by Proclamation in the New
Zealand Gazette, to divide the Colony of New Zealand,
for the purposes of the said Act, into such and so
many districts as he may think fit, and that every
such district shall be called by a distinct name, and
shall be a Registrar's district; and it is provided that
the Governor may at any time revoke the whole or
any part of such Proclamation, and issue a new
Proclamation dividing the Colony or any part of it
anew into districts, or increasing the number or
altering the boundaries of districts, as from time to
time he may think requisite:
And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the fifth day of May, one thou-
sand eight hundred and sixty-three, the Governor, in
pursuance of the said recited power and authority,
did constitute a district for the purposes of the said
Act, called the "Mohaka" District, the boundaries
whereof were therein set forth, which said Procla-
mation came into operation and took effect on the
first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-three:
And whereas by a Proclamation duly made and
issued, bearing date the thirtieth day of January,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five, the
Governor, in pursuance of the said recited power
and authority, did constitute a district for the pur-
poses of the said Act, called the "Turanga" District,
the boundaries whereof were therein set forth, which
said Proclamation came into operation and took
effect on the fifteenth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five:
And whereas it is expedient to revoke so much of
the said Proclamations as relates to the said districts,
and to divide anew the territory formerly comprised
within such districts:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the power and authority vested in me by
the said recited Act, do hereby revoke the said
Proclamations so far as relates to the said districts,
and do proclaim and declare that the territory
formerly comprised within such districts shall be
and is hereby divided, for the purposes of the said
Act, into four districts, the names and boundaries
whereof shall be as follows:-
OPOTIKI DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the West and North-west by
high water-mark of the sea from the mouth of the
Whakatane River to Lottin Point; towards the East
by a right line southerly from Lottin Point aforesaid
to the Pukemaru Range, thence by the said range to
the summit of the Raukumaru Mountain, thence
in a straight line to the summit of Maungawaru,
thence in a straight line to the summit of Huiarau;
towards the South by a straight line bearing due
West from the summit of Huiarau aforesaid to
the Waikari River; and towards the West by the
Waikari and Whakatane Rivers aforesaid, to the
mouth of the last-mentioned river, the point of com-
mencement.
WAIAPU DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North and East by high
water-mark of the sea from Lottin Point to Mawai
Point; towards the South by a straight line bearing
due West from Mawai Point aforesaid to the eastern
boundary of the Opotiki District, before described;
and towards the West by the eastern boundary of
the Opotiki District, before mentioned, to Lottin
Point, the place of commencement.
TURANGA DISTRICT.
Bounded towards the North by the southern
boundary of the Waiapu District, before described;
towards the East by high water-mark of the sea from
Mawai Point to latitude 38° 57' South; towards the
South by a straight line from the point last men-
tioned to the summit of the Whakapunake Moun-
tain; and towards the West by a straight line from
the summit of the Whakapunake Mountain afore-
said, in a north-westerly direction, to the eastern
boundary of the Opotiki District, before mentioned,
and by the eastern boundary of the last-mentioned
district, to the point of commencement.
