remainder at or before the expiration of one calendar
month from the day of sale.

The River Patea is about thirty-five miles north-
west of Wanganui. It is accessible to coasting
craft and small steamers, and navigable for vessels
drawing six feet, for fifteen or twenty miles. It is
likely to become the place of trade of the Ngati-
ruanui country, one of the finest agricultural
districts in the Colony; and, although no land has
yet been sold, the township already contains a con-
siderable population.

Plans may be inspected at the Office of the Secre-
tary for Crown Lands, Wellington, and at the
Offices of the Commissioners of Crown Land,
throughout the Colony; at the Resident Magistrate's
Court House, Carlyle; and at the Custom Houses
Wanganui.

Regulations for the sale of these lands may be seen
in the New Zealand Gazette, of 17th February, 1868.
