PURSUANT to the provisions of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, passed in
the eighteenth year of the reign of Her Majesty
Queen Victoria, and intituled "The Marriage Act,
1854," the following name of an Officiating Minister,
within the meaning of the said Act, is published for
general information:---

I, JOHN B. BENNETT, Registrar-General of Births,
Deaths, and Marriages in New Zealand, do hereby
certify that the foregoing NAME of an OFFICIATING
MINISTER, within the meaning of "The Marriage
Act, 1854," has been sent in to me in addition to
the names in Lists published in the New Zealand
Gazette, No. 4, of the 29th of January; No. 5, of
the 8th of February; No. 15, of the 19th of March;
No. 16, of the 25th of March; No. 18, of the 1st of
April; No. 22, of the 17th of April; No. 23, of the
27th of April; No. 25, of the 13th of May; No. 31,
of the 3rd of June; No. 32, of the 11th of June;
No. 34, of the 26th of June; No. 37, of the 6th of
July; No. 42, of the 6th of August; No. 55, of the
20th of September; No. 57, of the 22nd of Sep-
tember; and No. 60, of the 16th of October, in the
present year.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
twentieth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-nine.

PATENTS ACT, 1860.—Notice is hereby given, that
an application has been made to His Excellency
the Governor of New Zealand, by Decimus Atkinson,
of the Fitzroy District, in the Province of Taranaki,
Gentleman, for the grant to him of Letters Patent
under the Seal of the said Colony, for the exclusive
use within the said Colony of a new Invention for
reducing the Iron Sand of New Zealand, and other

finely granulated or divided Metallic Ores to the
metallic state, without previous admixture with clays
or other fluxes; and also of reducing Scrap Iron to
marketable form by a like process; and also of an
improvement in the construction of Furnaces for the
above purposes. And notice is hereby further given,
that any person who may wish to prefer any objection
to the granting of such Letters Patent, is hereby
required, within four months from the publication of
this notice, to send to the office of John Boyle
Bennett, Esquire, Registrar-General, at Wellington,
a statement in writing, setting forth the grounds of
such objection, subscribed with his proper name and
address.

PATENTS ACT, 1860.—Notice is hereby given, that
application has been made to His Excellency
the Governor, by and on behalf of Edward Metcalf
Smith, of New Plymouth, in the Province of Tara-
naki, Gunsmith, for the grant to him of Letters
Patent, pursuant to the provisions of "The Patents
Act, 1860," for the exclusive use within the Colony
of New Zealand of an Invention of a material Im-
provement in the present Method of Smelting the
Iron Sand of New Zealand, or any other similar finely
granulated metallic substance, into Steel or Iron.
Any person desirous of entering an objection to
such grant is required to send within four months of
the publication hereof to the office of John Boyle
Bennett, Esquire, the officer appointed to receive the
same, a statement in writing, setting forth clearly the
grounds of such objection, subscribed with his proper
name and address.
Dated at Wellington, the 17th day of November,
1869.
