IT is hereby notified, that a Despatch has been
received from the Right Honorable the Secre-
tary of State for the Colonies, stating that the Chilian
Minister has reported that the appointment of Mr.
Santiago Burtt, as Consul at Auckland for Chili, has
been cancelled.

ENQUIRIES having been made respecting a
person named John Smith, who was formerly in
the 68th Regiment, from which he obtained his
discharge about December, 1865, when he settled on
his land in partnership with a man named Martin
Nugent, who was also discharged from the 68th at
the same time, any one who can furnish any infor-
mation respecting him is requested to communicate
with this office. A report had reached Smith's
friends that he had been shot in an affray with the
Natives.

Major CHARLES BROWN,
having resigned the command of the Militia and
Volunteers of the Taranaki District, the resignation
is accepted, and his name is placed on the unattached
list, at his own request.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership for
some time past subsisting between us, the
undersigned John Moutray and John Harrison
Barclay, under the style or firm of "Moutray and
Barclay," as Engineers, Iron and Brass Founders, in
the City of Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand,
was this day dissolved by mutual consent, and that
the business will henceforth be carried on by the
said John Moutray alone and in his name, and that
the said John Moutray is authorized to discharge all
debts and receive all credits on account of the said
partnership.
As witness our hands this twenty-eighth day of
August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

Who'd have thought it Gold Mining Company,
Registered." - The place of operations is at Charleston Flat.
- The nominal capital of the Company is fourteen
hundred pounds, in two hundred and eighty shares of
