or any of such polling places at any time to abolish,
and to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof:
And whereas, by warrant under the hand of the
Governor, bearing date the sixteenth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, Mr.
Fyffe's Station, Kaikoura, and the School House,
Mr. J. D. Tetley's Station, Kekerangu, were ap-
pointed polling places, and Mr. Fyffe's Station,
Kaikoura, was appointed principal polling place, for
the District of Clarence for the election of Members
of the Provincial Council of the Province of Marl-
borough:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same
and to appoint others in their place:
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do
hereby abolish the above-named polling places and
principal polling place for the District of Clarence
for the election of Members of the Provincial
Council of the Province of Marlborough, and do
appoint in lieu thereof----
The Court House, Kaikoura, and
The Clarence Ferry.
And I do appoint
The Court House, Kaikoura,
to be the principal polling place for the said District
of Clarence.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of January, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
nine.

GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by warrant under his hand, from
time to time to appoint polling places for each
Electoral District, within or without the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be
the principal polling place for the district, and all or
any of such polling places at any time to abolish, and
to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof: And

eight hundred and sixty-eight, the Court House,
Naseby, was appointed a principal polling place for
the District of the Gold Fields for the election of
Superintendent and Members of the Provincial
Council of the Province of Otago:
And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same:
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and autho-
rity in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings
of the District Court of the Otago Gold Fields,
additional to those already appointed, shall be held
as follows:-
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Lawrence,
on the second Tuesday in April next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Naseby, on
the second Wednesday in May next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Clyde, on
the Monday next after the second Wednesday
in May next.
In the Resident Magistrate's Court at Queenstown,
on the Monday second after the second Wednes-
day in May next.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-third day of
January, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-nine.

mander Perceval of the visit of H.M.S. "Falcon"
to the Auckland Islands, is published for general
information.

SIR, -In compliance with your Excellency's request,
I have the honor to enclose herewith a copy of
Commander Perceval's Report of H.M.S. "Falcon's"
visit to the Auckland Islands in June, 1868.

SIR, -In pursuance of instructions from Commodore
Rowley Lambert, C.B., I have the honor to report,
for the information of the Lords Commissioners of
the Admiralty, that I sailed from Sydney, New South
Wales, in Her Majesty's ship under my command, on
the 6th ultimo, and arrived at Port Ross, Laurie
Harbour, Auckland Islands, on the 19th. The crew
were exercised at target practice on the same day,
by way of intimating to any shipwrecked mariners
the fact of the presence of a man-of-war.
