A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it is
amongst other things enacted, that the fifth
part of the said Act, including sections thirty-three,
thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-six, thirty-seven, thirty-
eight, and thirty-nine, and that section fifty-two shall
have no force or effect upon any Gold Field until
after the Governor shall, by Proclamation in the New
Zealand Gazette, have proclaimed and extended the
operation of the said part and sections to the Pro-
vince wherein such Gold Field shall be situate. And
whereas by "The County of Westland Act, 1868," it
is enacted that the word "Province" in any Act
of the General Assembly shall include County of
Westland:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the power vested in me by
the said Act, do hereby proclaim and extend the
operation of the fifth part of the said Act, including
sections thirty-three, thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-
six, thirty-seven, thirty-eight, and thirty-nine, and
of section fifty-two of the said Act, to the County
of Westland.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, this eighth
day of July, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
nine.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the three hundred and eightieth
section of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1867," it is provided that in all cases in which no pro-
vision, or no sufficient provision, is in the opinion of the
Governor made by the said Act, it shall be lawful for
the Governor from time to time, for the purpose of
facilitating or more effectually carrying into execution
any of the objects thereof, to make and prescribe all
such Regulations and Orders, either general or appli-
cable to particular cases only, as he shall think fit,
and such Regulations and Orders from time to time
to revoke or alter, as to the Governor shall appear to
be requisite:

And whereas it is expedient that a day should be
appointed for holding the first election of Assessors
and Auditors under the said Act in and for the
Borough of Blenheim:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
G.C.M.G., the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of all powers and
authorities enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
proclaim, make, and prescribe the following Regula-
tion and Order, applicable only to the Borough of
Blenheim, that is to say: the first election of Assessors
and the first election of Auditors under "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1867," for the Borough of
Blenheim, shall respectively be held on the thirtieth
day of July instant.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir

Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
