His Honor DONALD MCLEAN, Member of the House of Representatives, and
Superintendent of the Province of Hawke's Bay.
JAMES HECTOR, Esquire, Doctor of Medicine, Fellow of the Royal Society,
and Director of the Geological Survey in New Zealand.
Lieutenant HENRY BASKERVILLE BENSON, Royal Naval Reserve,
Whereas on the 27th day of November last, Sir George Grey, Knight Commander
of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and
over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, did issue a
Commission under his hand, and under the Public Seal of the said Colony, appointing
certain persons named therein to be Reception Commissioners to devise and carry
into effect all necessary arrangements for a fitting reception of His Royal Highness
THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH, and for paying suitable marks of respect to His Royal
Highness during his visit to this Colony:
And whereas it is desirable to appoint additional persons to the aforesaid
Commission:
Now know ye, that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, reposing special trust and
confidence in your knowledge and ability, have thought fit to constitute and appoint,
and by these presents do constitute and appoint youβ
ALFRED DOMETT,
DONALD MCLEAN,
JAMES HECTOR,
HENRY BASKERVILLE BENSON,
to be Reception Commissioners, in addition to the existing Commissioners, for the
purposes specified in the said Commission, which Commission continues in full force
and virtue, anything herein notwithstanding.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint
Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand and its Dependen-
cies, and issued under the Public Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day of February, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
