A PROCLAMATION.
W
HEREAS by "The Lunatics Act, 1868," it is
enacted that the Governor in Council may
from time to time, by Proclamation published in the
New Zealand Gazette, proclaim any house or building
provided or deemed suitable for the reception of
lunatics, and wholly or in part supported out of any
money appropriated for the purpose by the General
Assembly, or wholly or in part supported by or at
the cost of any Province or County or other division
of the Colony, a Public Asylum within the meaning
of the said Act:
Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony,
do hereby proclaim
The Building situated on the Rural Section
numbered one hundred and fifty-nine (159)
in the Christchurch District, in the Province
of Canterbury,
being a house or building provided and deemed
suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly or
in part supported at the cost of the Province of
Canterbury, to be a Public Asylum within the mean-
ing of "The Lunatics Act, 1868," aforesaid.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,

Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington; and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, this ninth
day of December, in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and
sixty-eight.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and
authorities for this purpose vested in me by
"The Intestate Estates Act, 1865," and of all other
powers and authorities in this behalf enabling me, I,
Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New
Zealand, do hereby direct that all rents and other
moneys received by any Curator of Intestate Estates,
who has or shall have taken possession of, or is or
shall be managing, any such real estate, shall (after
the deduction of such moneys as may be expended
by such Curator under the powers by law vested in
him) be by such Curator paid to the Public Account
at the following intervalsβthat is to say, on the
third Wednesday in the month of March, the third
Wednesday in the month of June, the third Wed-
nesday in the month of September, and the third
Wednesday in the month of December, in each year.

All those Buildings, Offices, &c., situate on
Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, Block XIX., and the
adjoining portion of the Cemetery Reserve,
Dunedin, as delineated on the map of the
said town,
being houses or buildings provided and deemed
suitable for the reception of lunatics, and wholly
supported at the cost of the Province of Otago, to
WHEREAS by "The Volunteer Act, 1865," it is
enacted that the Governor may at any time
call out for actual service any Volunteer Corps, and
that every Officer and Volunteer belonging to any
Corps so called out shall be bound to assemble at
such place as the Governor may direct, and shall
remain on actual service until released by the
Governor's authority:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of New Zealand, do hereby call out for
actual service the several Volunteer Corps named in
the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby direct the
Officers and Volunteers of each of the said Corps
to assemble at the time and place mentioned and set
opposite to the name of such Corps in the Schedule
aforesaid.
