ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, Wellington, this
twenty-second day of October, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Militia Act, 1858," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor
in Council from time to time to constitute through-
out the Colony, or in any part thereof, Militia
Districts:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, in exercise and in pursuance of the powers
and authorities for that purpose vested in him, doth
hereby constitute the territory comprised within the
circumference of a circle having a radius of fifteen
miles from the junction of the Manga-aruhe River
with the Wairoa River, a Militia District, to be called
by the name following, that is to sayβ€”

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Colonial Forces Courts-
Martial Act, 1868," it is enacted that it shall
be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to
time to fix the number of officers of which General
Courts-Martial, District Courts-Martial, and Regi-
mental or Detachment Courts-Martial, respectively,
to be convened by any such officer authorized by the
Governor under the said Act as therein mentioned,
shall consist; and that any such Courts-Martial
convened by any officer so authorised as aforesaid
shall respectively consist of the number of officers
fixed by the Order in Council made under the said
Act for the time being in force :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority
for that purpose vested in him, by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
Colony, doth hereby order that the number of officers
of which General Courts-Martial, District Courts-
Martial, and Regimental or Detachment Courts-
Martial respectively, convened by any such officer
authorized by the Governor as aforesaid, shall consist,
shall be as follows, that is to say :-

General Courts-Martial shall consist of not less
than seven officers.
District Courts-Martial shall consist of not less
than five officers.
Regimental or Detachment Courts-Martial shall
consist of not less than three officers.

WHEREAS by "The Public Houses Act, 1868,"
it is enacted that whenever the Colonial Forces
shall be employed for the purpose of suppressing
rebellion or other disturbances in any part of the
Colony, and shall be stationed at any place near to
or within such part, it shall be lawful for the
Governor from time to time, by Proclamation, to
declare that from and after a day to be fixed therein
such part of the Colony as shall be defined in the

Proclamation shall be a Proclaimed District within
the meaning and for the purposes of the said Act,
and thereupon it shall not be lawful for any person,
whether holding a license under any Act or Ordi-
nance regulating the sale of wine, ale, beer, or spirits,
or not, to sell or supply any wine, beer, or spirituous
or fermented liquors of any kind, without the per-
mission of such person as the Governor shall from
time to time appoint to grant permits for the sale of
such articles within such district:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing even date
herewith, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance
and exercise of the powers and authorities for that
purpose vested in him, hath proclaimed and declared
that all that part of the Colony comprised within the
circumference of a circle having a radius of fifteen
miles from the point of junction of the Manga-aruhe
River with the Wairoa River should, from and after
the twenty-second day of October, be a Proclaimed
District within the meaning and for the purposes of
the said Act:

Now therefore I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the
Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the power
and authority for that purpose vested in me, do
hereby appoint

Major CHARLES LAMBERT
to be the person who may grant permits for the sale
of wine, ale, beer, or spirits within the said Pro-
claimed District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this twenty-second
day of October, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING :

WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand,
from time to time to appoint polling places for each
Electoral District, within or without the limits thereof,
and to appoint any one of such places to be the
principal polling place for the district, and all or any
of such polling places at any time to abolish, and
to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof: And
whereas, by warrant under the hand of the Governor,
the following places were appointed principal polling
place and polling places for the districts hereinafter
named, for the election of Members of the House of
Representatives, viz. :-

The house of Mr. D. Sellars, Tauranga, polling
place for the District of Franklin; and
Mr. A. Buckland's Yard, Newmarket, polling
place and principal polling place for the
District of Raglan:

And whereas it is expedient to abolish the same :
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Act, do
hereby abolish the above-named polling places and
principal polling place for the above-named districts
for the election of Members of the House of Repre-
sentatives, and do appoint in lieu thereofβ€”

The Resident Magistrate's Court House,
Tauranga, polling place for the district of
Franklin; and
