THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.
the following regulation to be construed and read
with and form part of the said regulations published
in the New Zealand Gazette on the eleventh day of
February last.
ADDITIONAL REGULATION.
The town allotments specified in the schedule
hereto shall be set apart and appropriated in part
fulfilment of agreements for compensation made
between the Colonial Secretary and certain Native
claimants, and recorded in the Compensation Court,
in lieu of the town allotments appropriated for the
said purpose by the regulations made by Order in
Council of the fourth of February, 1867.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
eighth day of January, 1868.

THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE
COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by section three of an Act of the
General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled
"The Confiscated Lands Act, 1867," power is given
to the Governor from time to time as he shall
think fit by proclamation in the New Zealand
Gazette, to reserve out of the lands taken under
"The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," "The
New Zealand Settlements Act, 1864," and "The
New Zealand Settlements Amendment and Con-
tinuance Act, 1865," and "The New Zealand
Settlements Acts Amendment Act, 1866," or out of
lands which by "The East Coast Land Titles
Investigation Act, 1866," and "The East Coast
Land Titles Investigation Act Amendment Act,
1867," it is provided shall be deemed to be Crown
Lands, such lands as to him shall seem fit, and
thereout to grant such portion or portions thereof
as he shall think fit to such person or persons of the
Native race as he shall think deserving, and shall
appear to him to have acted in the preservation of
peace and order and in suppressing the rebellion :
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, K.C.B., the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance and
exercise of the said recited power and authority,
do hereby proclaim and declare that I reserve for the
purposes aforesaid out of the lands so taken as
aforesaid the pieces of land mentioned in the Schedule
hereto for the persons whose names are therein
mentioned.
