HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
appoint
HENRY ALDBOROUGH STRATFORD, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Marriages, and of Births, Deaths,
and Marriages, for the District of Blackstone, as the
same is defined in Proclamation of thirtieth day of
November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five,
and published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 48, of
11th December, 1865.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
grant Letters Patent under "The Patents Act,
1860," in favour of
JOHN MASON,
of Auckland, in the Province of Auckland, for an
invention or improvement of a machine in the
nature of a mill, to be worked by hand, water, or
steam power, for crushing or grinding auriferous
quartz or other gold-bearing stone, and preparing
such quartz or other stone for the process of amalga-
mation.

any information respecting him is requested to com-

at Auckland or Dunedin.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 15th October, 1868.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until the
thirtieth of November, 1868, from persons
willing to supply the New Zealand Government with
Stationery, to be delivered free of expense in this
Colony, at such Port as the Government may indicate,
for the Twelve Months commencing on the first June,
1869.

  1. The value of all necessary packages, whether
    bulk be broken or not, must be included in the prices
    demanded, and the net weight or quantity only will
    be paid for.
  2. A bond for the sum of £1,000, the Contractor in
    the sum of £500 and two approved sureties £500
    each, for the due performance of the contract, will be
    required to be entered into within a month of the
    acceptance of the contract.
  3. The Tenderers will be required to forward
    samples of the articles marked with an asterisk.
  4. The supplies are to be according to sample and
    of the particular manufacture indicated in the
    Schedule.
  5. In the case of different makers' goods, the Con-
    tractors will be required to supply the kind ordered.
  6. Orders must receive prompt execution.
  7. The Contractor will be required to furnish his
    account in the prescribed form simultaneously with
    delivery of the full quantity of goods ordered, the
    account being rendered with the order to which it
    relates.
  8. The acceptance of the supplies will be subject
    to the approval of the officers in the various Provinces
