STATEMENT in Explanation of the SUMS PAYABLE and PAID to the PROVINCES on account of CONSOLIDATED REVENUE during the Year ended the 30th day of JUNE, 1868.

PROVINCES. Moiety of Receipts into Consolidated Fund from 1st July, 1867, to 31st May, 1868. Transfers from Land Fund. Payments on account of Services Provincially charged from 1st July, 1867, to 31st May, 1868. The twelfth parts of Interest and Sinking Fund on portion of Loans charged against Provinces from 1st July, 1867, to 31st May, 1868. Payable to Provinces for Appropriation (Columns 1 and 2, less Columns 3 and 4). Paid to Provinces from 1st July, 1867, to 30th June, 1868.

a. This sum was paid to the Province of Auckland in the September Quarter, before the Public Revenues Act was passed. The over-payment has since been adjusted.
b. This over-payment arose from advances to the Province in anticipation of the proper dates for the completion of the accounts.
c. Payment withheld to adjust liability in separate account.
d. The over-payment in this case arose out of an error in the Account rendered to the Province.
