WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The New Zealand
Settlements Acts Amendment Act, 1866," power is given to the Governor to reserve portions of any
of the land taken under "The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," for the several purposes for which
reserves may be made under the twelfth section of "The Waste Lands Act, 1858," and may make grants
thereof under "The Public Reserves Act, 1854," or otherwise, as the case may require. And whereas the
purposes for which such reserves may be made under the said twelfth section of the said Waste Lands Act,
1858, are for the construction of trunk lines of road, or as sites for public buildings for the use of the
General Government, or for other purposes of public utility or convenience. And whereas the several
pieces of land described or mentioned in the second, third, and fourth columns of the Schedule hereto
have been respectively taken under "The New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," and it is expedient
that they should be reserved for the purposes respectively set opposite thereto in the first column of
the said Schedule:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the powers so vested in me, do hereby except from sale and reserve to Her Majesty, her
heirs and successors, for the several purposes mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto, the
several allotments or parcels of land situated in the Waikato District, in the Province of Auckland,
and respectively mentioned or referred to in the said Schedule, and which several allotments are respectively
numbered in the said Schedule, and the boundaries thereof set out in the official maps or plans in the Survey
Office for the Province of Auckland, showing the sections or allotments of the several townships or parishes
in the Waikato District aforesaid.
