ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, the
first day of July, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The County of Westland Act,
1867," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor in Council to constitute and define
road districts in the County of Westland, and such
districts from time to time to alter or abolish, and to
provide for the constitution of Boards for the
management of the business of such districts, and
from time to time to make regulations for the elec-
tion of such Boards, and for defining the number of
members thereof. And whereas by an Order in
Council bearing date the eighth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, His
Excellency the Governor, in exercise of the power
vested in him by the said Act, did, with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony,
constitute and define the districts therein described,
and provide for the constitution of Boards for the
management of the business of such districts, and did
make the regulations therein contained for the elec-
tion of such Boards and for defining the number of
members thereof.

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries
of the Arahura Road District and the Totara Road
District, and to constitute and define the Kanieri
Road District in manner hereinafter appearing: Now
therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in exercise
of the power vested in him by the said Act, doth
hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the Colony, alter the Arahura Road
District and the Totara Road District, so that the
boundaries thereof respectively shall be the boun-
daries defined in the Schedule hereto as the boun-
daries of the districts aforesaid; and His Excellency
the Governor, in further exercise of the power afore-
said, with the like advice and consent, doth hereby
constitute and define the Kanieri Road District as
the boundaries thereof are described in the said
Schedule hereto, and doth order and declare that

shall be the Returning Officer for the election of
members for the Kanieri Road District aforesaid.

That the persons named as Returning Officers for
the Arahura Road District and the Totara Road
District respectively, in the said Order in Council of
the eighth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-eight, shall remain and be
Returning Officers for the election of members for
the Arahura Road District and the Totara Road
District respectively, as the same are altered and
defined by this present Order in Council; and that
the provisions for the constitution of Boards and all
other the provisions not inconsistent herewith of
the said Order in Council of the eighth day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight, shall extend and be applicable to the road
districts defined in the Schedule hereto as the
Arahura Road District, the Totara Road District,
and the Kanieri Road District, as if those districts
were named, constituted, and defined in the said
Order in Council.

SCHEDULE.

Arahura Road District.

Commencing at the mouth of the Teremakau River;
thence following up that river to its source; thence
southerly along the dividing range to the source of the
Arahura River; thence following down the southern
bank of that river to the sea coast; and northwards
along the coast to the commencing point.

Totara Road District.

Bounded on the West by the sea coast; on the
South by the Wanganui River; on the East by the
dividing range; and on the North by the southern
boundary of the Kaneri District hereinafter defined.

Kaneri Road District.

Commencing at the mouth of the Arahura River;
thence following up that river to its source; thence
southerly along the dividing range to the source of
the Kokatahi; thence down the southern bank of that
river to its junction with the Hokitika River; thence
southerly up the western bank of the Hokitika River
to line Ho; thence westerly down line Ho to
Mahinapua Lake, and by a line touching the nor-
thern bank of the said lake to the sea coast; and
northerly along the coast to the commencing point,
excepting the Town of Hokitika.
