NOTES.

Taranaki.—Slight earthquake on the 12th; high winds on 18th, N.W., and 20th and 21st, S.W. Fine weather during the month.
Wellington.—Fine weather; prevailing wind, N.W.
Nelson.—Fine weather; prevailing wind, S.W.
Christchurch.—Thunder on the 22nd; high wind on 29th from N.E.; prevailing wind, N.E. On the whole, pleasant weather.
Hokitika.—Fog on the 3rd, 11th, 25th, and 26th; prevailing winds, S.E. and S.W. Agreeable weather.
Dunedin.—Very fine weather.

GENERAL REMARKS.

The temperature for this month is nearer to the average temperature for former years than January and February, as are also
the Barometer readings—while the rainfall is rather less than the averages for the same month for previous years.
