TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, by warrant under his hand, from
time to time to appoint polling places for each
electoral district, within or without the limits
thereof, and to appoint any one of such places to be
the principal polling place for the district, and all or
any of such polling places at any time to abolish and
to appoint other polling places in lieu thereof. And
whereas by warrant under the hand of the Governor,
bearing date the seventeenth day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, certain places
were appointed polling places and principal polling
places for the election of Members of the House of
Representatives for the districts following, viz.:--
District of the Northern Division, District of the
City of Dunedin, District of Waikouaiti, District of
Roslyn, District of Manuherikia, and District of
Gold Fields. And whereas it is expedient to abolish
the same:
The District of Roslyn :
The Drill Shed, Kaikorai.
Caversham.
The School House, North-east Valley.

The Court House, Alexandra.

Hamilton.

Clyde.

Roxburgh.

Naseby.

St. Bathan's.
District of the Gold Fields :

The Camp, Nokomai.

Hyde.
Now know ye, that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of
the power and authority in me vested by the said
Act, do hereby abolish the polling places for the
abovenamed districts for the election of Members
of the House of Representatives, and do appoint the
following polling places in lieu thereof, viz. :-
District of the Northern Division:
Devonport Assembly Hall, North Shore.
Little Muddy Creek, Mr. John McPike's residence.
Henderson's Mill.
North Shore, Mr. Reed's residence, Stokes' Point.
Weiti, Mr. Lloyd's barn.
Mahurangi, the Public Hall.
District of the City of Dunedin :
The Provincial Government Buildings.
The School Room, North Dunedin.
District of Waikouaiti :
The Court House, Hawkesbury.
The School House, Palmerston.
The Station of Messrs. Douglas, Alderson and Co.,
Highly.
And I do hereby appoint the polling places
hereinafter specified to be the principal polling
places for the following districts:β
District of the Northern Division:
Devonport Assembly Hall, North Shore.
District of the City of Dunedin :
The Provincial Government Buildings.
District of Waikouaiti:
The Court House, Hawkesbury.
District of Roslyn :
The Drill Shed, Kaikorai.
