other persons to be appointed after the passing of
the said Act by the Governor, shall be a Board of
Governors of an Institution which shall be called
"The New Zealand Institute," and that they and
their successors and the members for the time being
of all and every Society or Societies thereafter to be
incorporated with the said Institute for so long and
such time as such several Societies shall remain and
continue to be incorporated with the said Institute,
shall be, and they are hereby declared to be, one body
corporate in deed, name, and law, by the name of
"The New Zealand Institute," and that by the same
name they shall have perpetual succession and a
common seal, and shall and may sue and be sued,
plead or be impleaded, grant or receive, and shall
have power and authority to take and purchase and
hold lands, tenements, and hereditaments to them,
their successors and assigns, for the purposes in the
said Act after mentioned.
And whereas by the said Act it is also provided
that in case of the resignation of any member, the
successor of such member so resigning shall be
appointed by the Governor.
And whereas by warrant under the hand of His
Excellency Sir George Grey, then Governor of New
Zealand, bearing date the twenty-ninth day of No-
vember last, The Hon. Walter Baldock Durant
Mantell was appointed one of the Governors of the
New Zealand Institute:
And whereas the aforesaid Walter Baldock Dur-
ant Mantell has tendered his resignation, which has
been accepted:
Now know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance of the power and authority in me vested
by the said recited Act, do hereby appoint
JAMES HECTOR, Esq., M.D., F.R.S.,
to be a Governor of the New Zealand Institute, in
the room of and as successor to The Hon. Walter
Baldock Durant Mantell aforesaid.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, this seventh day
of March, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
seventh day of March, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
HEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Provisional
Jury List Act, 1865," it is enacted that the Governor
in Council may, from time to time, order that a Jury
List shall be formed for any district to be in such
order defined, at any time after the date of such
order and prior to the first of February next
following such date, but in other respects in manner
provided in an Ordinance of the Governor and
Legislative Council of New Zealand (Session III.
No. 2), intituled " An Ordinance to make temporary
provision for the constitution of Juries;" and that
every such list when transmitted to the Sheriff shall
be the Jury List for the district for which it shall
have been formed until the twenty-eighth day of
February next following the date of such order and
no longer, anything in the said Ordinance to the
contrary notwithstanding: Now therefore, His
Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise
of the said recited power and authority, doth hereby
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of New Zealand, order, that on the third day of
April, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight, a Jury List shall be formed for the District
called the Westland North District, as defined
in and by a certain proclamation issued on the
twentieth day of January last, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette on the twenty-third day of
the said month of January.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
seventh day of March, 1868.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," it
is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor, by Order in Council, from time to time, to
constitute for any gold field or for any part thereof,
Wardens' Courts for the administration of justice
therein, and to appoint Wardens of such Courts,
with power to act alone or with assessors, and in
such manner, and to exercise all or any of the powers
thereinafter mentioned as the Governor shall think
fit to direct.
And whereas by a certain proclamation made by
His Honor the Superintendent of the Province of
Auckland, dated the seventh day of August, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven, and pub-
lished in the Provincial Government Gazette of the
said Province on the seventeenth day of the said
month of August, the portion of the Colony in the
said Province of Auckland therein specified was con-
stituted a gold field.
And whereas it is expedient that a Warden's Court
should be constituted in and for the said gold field:
Now therefore His Excellency the Governor, in
pursuance and exercise of the said power and
authority, doth hereby, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of New Zealand, order, that
Wardens' Courts shall be and the same are hereby
constituted and established for the gold field con-
stituted by the hereinbefore recited proclamation,
dated the seventh day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven, for the administration of
justice therein, and doth hereby appoint
JAMES MACKAY, jun.,
HENRY CHARLES LAWLOR, and
ALAN BAILLIE, Esquires,
to be Wardens of such Courts, with power to act
alone or with assessors, and in such manner as is
provided by the said Act, and to exercise all such
powers as are mentioned in the said Act, and which
the Governor by the said Act has power to direct
them to exercise.
