Schedule hereto, shall, from the twenty-seventh day
of February, 1868, be, and be deemed to be Waste
Lands of the Crown, within the meaning of "The
Auckland Waste Lands Act, 1867."

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand
Cross of the Most Distinguished Order
of Saint Michael and Saint George,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-
Admiral of the same, at the Government
House, at Wellington, and issued under
the Seal of the said Colony, this second
day of March, in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
eight.

SCHEDULE.
KORORUMANUI BLOCK.

Containing by admeasurement two thousand two
hundred and forty acres, more or less, situated in the
Parish of Putataka in the County of Rutland;
bounded towards the North by
at the mouth of the Okarahea Stream on the sea
shore, about one mile south of the mouth of the
Waikato River, and bearing N. 55 0. E. by compass
until it intersects the Port Waikato and Raglan
Road, in the vicinity of Pukengaio; to wards the East
by the road from Port Waikato to Raglan aforesaid
to Te Tehe; thence by a line bearing S. 30 30. E.
by compass until it intersects the Huriwai River;
towards the south-east by the Huriwai River afore-
said to the sea shore, and towards the West by high
water mark of the sea to the point of commencement.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Maori Repre-
sentation Act, 1867," it is among other things
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, by
proclamation to be published in the New Zealand
Gazette, to define and declare, and from time to time
to alter and vary, the boundaries of the several Maori
Electoral Districts:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
so vested in me as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and
declare that the boundaries of the several Maori
Electoral Districts named in the fifth section of the
abovementioned Act, shall be the boundaries as
defined in the Schedule to the said Act, that is to say:

The Northern Maori Electoral District shall com-
prise so much of the North Island of New Zealand
as lies to the northward of the Manukau Harbour
and a line drawn from the nearest point on the
Manukau Harbour to the Tamaki Stream, and thence
following the course of the Tamaki Stream to the sea.

The Western Maori Electoral District shall com-
prise so much of the North Island of New Zealand
as shall lie south of the southern boundary of the
Northern Maori Electoral District, being bounded
on the east by a line commencing at Wairakei, a
stream in the Bay of Plenty, thence by a line running
southward along the boundary of the Arawa tribal
territory to the summit of Titiraupunga, thence to
the nearest part of Lake Taupo, thence to the
middle of that lake and the Upper Waikato River to
its source, thence by a direct line to the summit of
the Ruahine range of mountains, thence by a line
following the watershed to Turakirae, a point in
Cook Strait.

The Eastern Maori Electoral District shall com-
prise all that portion of the North Island of New
Zealand not contained in the Northern and Western
Maori Electoral Districts.

The Southern Maori Electoral District comprises
the Middle Island, Stewart's Island, and the islands
adjacent thereto.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Commis-
sioners' Powers Act, 1867," certain powers are given
to any Board or Commission appointed or issued or
to be appointed or issued by the Governor in
Council. And whereas divers claims for compensa-
tion for losses occasioned by and for special services
in suppressing rebel Natives during the war, have
been preferred by settlers residing in the Provinces
of Hawke's Bay and Auckland. And it is expedient
that such claims should be investigated, and that
their reasonable amounts should be ascertained:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the Colony, do hereby
appoint

GEORGE SISSON COOPER, Esq.,
of Napier, Resident Magistrate, to be a Commis-
sioner to investigate the said claims and ascertain
their reasonableness and respective amounts, and for
this purpose to take evidence, and hear the said
claimants themselves, their counsel or agents and
witnesses, and to direct that the said Commissioner
shall, by one or more reports as he shall deem
expedient, make known to me what he shall have
done in the premises.
