The River Patea is about thirty-five miles north-
west of Whanganui. It is accessible to coasting
craft and small steamers, and navigable for vessels
drawing six feet, for fifteen or twenty miles. It is
likely to become the place of trade of the Ngati-
ruanui Country, one of the finest agricultural
districts in the Colony; and, although no land has
yet been sold, the Township already contains a con-
siderable population.

Plans may be inspected at the Office of the Secre-
tary for Crown Lands, Wellington; and at the
Offices of the Commissioners of Crown Lands,
throughout the Colony; at the Resident Magistrates
Court House, Carlvle, and at the Custom House,
Whanganui.
