ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
seventh day of December, 1867.
Present:
THE PRESIDENT AND MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE
COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly,
"The Medical Practitioners Act,
1867," the Governor is authorized by Order in
Council to nominate and appoint a Board consisting
of not less than five nor more than ten members, of
whom not less than two-thirds shall be members of
the medical profession and qualified to be registered
under the said Act, one of whom shall be nominated
by the Governor to be President of the said Board,
and such Board shall be called "The Medical Board."

And whereas it is further enacted that the members
of the said Board shall be nominated for a term of
five years, and that the Board shall hold its first
meeting within three months from the commencement
of this Act, in such place and at such time as the
Governor shall appoint:

Now therefore, His Excellency Sir George Grey,
K.C.B., the Governor, with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the Colony, doth by this
order nominate and appoint a Board which shall
consist of eight members, and shall be called "The
Medical Board," and doth hereby nominate as mem-
bers of the said Board for the term of five years,
the following persons, namely-

James Hector, M.D.
Morgan Stanislaus Grace, M.D.
Leonard George Boor, M.R.C.S.
Alexander Johnston, M.D.
Thomas Moore Philson, M.D.
Samuel Athanasius Cusack, F.R.C.S.I.
James Somerville Turnbull, M.D.
Edward Hulme, M.D.

And of whom the said James Hector, M.D., shall be
the President of the said Board.

And the Governor doth hereby appoint the Go-
vernment Buildings, at the City of Wellington, and
Tuesday, the seventh day of January next, at three
o'clock p.m., as the place and time respectively in and
at which the said Board shall hold its first meeting.

THE following Regulations, under the provisions
of "The Civil Service Act, 1866," are published
for general information.

  1. Hours of Business.

The hours of attendance to be observed in the
public offices, except where otherwise ordered, are
from ten o'clock a.m. to four o'clock p.m., and on
Saturdays from nine o'clock a.m. to two o'clock
p.m. The permanent head, or the chief clerk
of each department or office, will be charged with the
duty of seeing that these hours are regularly observed
by all officers, and will report on the attendance of
each officer in the department or office at such times
and in such manner as may be directed by the
responsible Minister.

  1. Overtime.

All officers will be required to attend at their offices
for such longer period as may, from time to time, be
required for the completion of arrears of work, or in
consequence of any departmental or public exigency.

  1. Hours of Business to be devoted strictly to Business.

All officers are required to devote themselves, dur-
ing the hours of business, exclusively to the discharge
of their public duties. No officer will be allowed to
leave his office during such hours, except on official
business, or by express permission of the permanent
head of the department or branch. Officers having
to attend at more than one place of business shall,
as far as possible, attend at stated times, and shall
post a notice of such times of attendance at the
