A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS power is vested in the Governor of
New Zealand by proclamation to declare any
house, building, enclosure, or place to be a public
gaol:
Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor,
as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare the
following house or building, that is to say-
The LOCK-UP at Waitangi, in the Chatham
Islands,
to be a Public Gaol.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Knight Commander of the
Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, at the
Government House, at Wellington, and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
this fourth day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, the
twenty-sixth day of October, 1867.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Volunteer
Act, 1865," power is given to the Governor in
Council from time to time, to make and alter
Regulations respecting the enrolment, discipline,
training, exercise and accoutrements, clothing, equip-
ment, conveyance, pay, rations, lodging and pensions
of the Volunteer Force, or any part thereof, and to
declare what is requisite to entitle a Volunteer to be
deemed an efficient Volunteer for the purposes of
the said Act, and generally for the more effectual
carrying out of the said Act, and to appoint penalties
not exceeding five pounds for each offence, for any
breach of the provisions of the said Act, or of such
Regulations.
And whereas, by an Order in Council dated the
third day of February, 1866, certain Rules and
Regulations were so made, and whereas it is
expedient now to alter the same:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance of the
said recited power and authority, doth by this present
Order, by and with the consent of the Executive
Council, alter the aforesaid Rules and Regulations,
and doth make the Rules and Regulations specified
in the Schedule hereinafter written, and doth appoint
the penalties for breaches thereof respectively, therein
set forth.

SCHEDULE.
REGULATIONS FOR THE NEW ZEALAND
VOLUNTEER FORCE.

The members of a Volunteer Corps are either
enrolled or honorary. -
Enrolled members are persons of every grade,
whose names are duly entered for service in the
muster roll of a corps. -
Honorary members are persons who contribute
to the funds of a corps, but are not enrolled for
service. -
The Volunteer Force is composed of the follow-
ing arms:---
Light Horse Volunteers
Artillery ditto
Engineer ditto
Rifle ditto
Naval ditto.
- The following Tables contain the authorized
establishment of each corps of the different arms of
which the Volunteer Force is composed, and no
corps will be recognized which does not contain the
minimum number of enrolled members.
