HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
make the undermentioned promotions and
appointments, viz.:---

In the Napier Militia.
Lieutenant Edmund Tuke to be Captain. Date of
commission, 4th October, 1867.

In the Rangitikei Militia.
Ensign George William Nicholls to be Lieutenant.
Date of commission, 26th September, 1867.

In the No. 6 Company Auckland Rifle Volunteers.
Richard Somerville to be Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 27th August, 1867.

In the Wellington Artillery Volunteers.
Dr. Leonard George Boor to be Honorary Assistant
Surgeon. Date of commission, 9th October,
1867.

In the Featherston Rifle Volunteers.
James Donald to be Captain. Date of commission,
22nd June, 1867.
Henry Robert Bunny to be Lieutenant. Date of
commission, 12th October, 1867.

In the Wellington Rifle Volunteer Cadet Corps.
George Aickin to be Honorary Captain. Date of
commission, 9th October, 1867.

In the Dunedin Naval Volunteers.
John Dobbie to be Lieutenant. Date of commission,
12th September, 1867.

IN exercise of the powers in me for this purpose
vested by "The Customs Regulation Act, 1858,"
I, the Commissioner of Customs, do hereby approve
and appoint the undermentioned Warehouses, viz:-
At Christchurch, a wooden building, situate in
Tuam Street, and known as
WALTON'S BOND;

And at the Port of Brighton, a wooden building,
situate in Shamrock Street, and known as
SWEENEY'S BOND,
to be Warehouses for the reception of goods under
bond.

Given under my hand at Wellington, this
seventh day of October, one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-seven.

I, GEORGE BOWRON, Registrar of Joint Stock
Companies for the Province of Canterbury, do
hereby notify that I have registered a Memorandum
of Association (with Articles of Association) estab-
lishing a Company (with limited liability of the
shareholders therein), intituled

"THE HALSWELL FLAX COMPANY (LIMITED);"

the objects of which are the cultivating the plant
known as New Zealand Flax or Phormium tenax,
and of separating the fibre of the same plant from its
cortical and other vegetable tissues so as to render
the said fibre fit for manufacture into cordage and
woven fabrics, and the manufacturing and weaving
such cordage and woven fabrics respectively, and the
doing all such other things as are incidental or
conducive to the attainment of the above objects.

And that in pursuance of "The Joint Stock
Companies Act, 1860," I have issued a certificate of
incorporation of the said Company, bearing date this
fifth day of October, one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven.

In the Supreme Court of New Zealand : Canterbury
District.

In the matter of the Debtors and Creditors Act, and
in the matter of the estate of Henry Joseph Hall,
of Christchurch, in the Province of Canterbury, in
New Zealand, grocer, a debtor, and in the matter
of the petition of the said debtor. Friday, this
thirtieth day of August, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven.

At a sitting of the Court pursuant to the said
Act, upon the application of Doctor Foster, of
counsel for the said petitioner, and after reading the
order of the twenty-sixth day of August instant,
and the minutes of the meetings filed on the twenty-
fourth instant, and the affidavit of William PΓ΄hle
Morton, filed on the twenty-ninth instant, and upon
examination upon oath of the said debtor: It is
ordered that the said debtor be at liberty to amend
the schedule of creditors annexed to the said petition
as per amendments filed this day; and the Court
doth declare that the following persons and firms
