TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:
WHEREAS by "The Regulation of Elections
Act, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be
lawful for the Governor, by warrant under his hand,
from time to time, to appoint polling places for each
electoral district within or without the limits thereof,
and to appoint any one of such places to be the
principal polling place for the district, and all or any
of such polling places at any time to abolish, and to
appoint other polling places in lieu thereof:
Now know ye, that I, the Governor of New
Zealand, in pursuance of the power and authority in
me vested by the said Act, do hereby appoint the
following place to be a polling place for the electoral
district hereinafter specified, as constituted by "The
Representation Act, 1865," for the election of
Members of the House of Representatives, namely—
The Court House, Mount Benger, for the District
of Manuherikia.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Knight Commander of the
Most Honourable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, this
twenty-third day of February, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-seven.

BY Notice in writing addressed by post to Mr.
John Alexander Wilson, of Auckland, surveyor,
the Colonial Secretary has, on behalf of the Crown,
abandoned the right of the Crown to take the follow-
ing land under "The New Zealand Settlements Act,
1863," namely:
All that piece or parcel of land in the Province of
Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand, situate on
the Waioka River in the Opotiki District, within the
boundaries comprised -- the Government survey of
Claim No. 360, under "The Land Claims Settlement
Act, 1856," and "The Land Claims Settlement
Extension Act, 1858," and containing by admeasure-
ment (1916) one thousand nine hundred and sixteen
acres more or less, as particularly delineated and
described on the plan of John Alexander Wilson's
land deposited in the office of the Land Claims
Commissioner, Wellington, in accordance with "The
Land Claims Settlements Act, 1858," on the (14th)
fourteenth day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and sixty-seven, and signed by the Land
Claims Commissioner.

THE Governor directs it to be notified for general
information that
ALFRED SAUNDERS, Esq.,
having resigned the office of Superintendent of the
Province of Nelson, His Excellency, on behalf of
Her Majesty the Queen, accepted such resignation
on the 15th instant.

IT is hereby notified that a Writ issued for the
election of a Member of the House of Represen-
tatives for the Electoral District of the City of
Christchurch has been returned with a certificate
that
WILLIAM THOMAS LOCKE TRAVERS, Esq.,
has been duly elected.

ERRATUM.—In Gazette No. 9, of the 11th February, 1867,
in Section 9 of the Schedule to the Order in Council
regulating the sale of the Waitara Township, after the words
"for other corner lots," for "£20 each" read "£15 each," and
in the following line, after the words "for intermediate lots,"
for "£15 each" read "£20 each."
