a This includes a sum of £6,166 18s. 4d. that has to be repaid by the Government of New South Wales on account of the Panama contract.

b Of this amount the sum of £222 17s. has been paid for £201 19s. 1d. for cost of maintenance.

c This sum includes the whole expenditure brought to charge in the quarter for Defence purposes, of which £23,377 2s. 2d. would formerly have been charged as an expenditure under the Loan of 1863.

d This includes payments amounting to £2,163 1s. 6d. on account of the construction of telegraph lines, and
