Napier, 18th November, 1866.
SIR, I have the honor to inform you that in the
hurry of the moment I most unintentionally omitted,
in my Despatch to His Honor the Agent for the
General Government, to thank Captain Fitzgerald,
commanding No. 1 Company, Napier Militia, for the
assistance he afforded me and the zealous manner in
which he performed his duty at the late affair at
Omaranui. This omission was purely accidental.
