obligation to be void and of none effect, or else to
remain in full force and virtue: provided always
that no more than the sum of one thousand pounds
shall be recoverable from each of them the said
sureties by virtue of the above written obligation.

5 A seal to be affixed for each party, and the bond to be signed
in the presence of two witnesses, who must sign their names,

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, the
twelfth day of October, 1866.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Native
Reserves Amendment Act, 1862," it is amongst other
things provided that where, under the provisions of
"The Native Reserves Act, 1856," the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants is required to bringing land
under the operation of the said "Native Reserves
Act, 1856," the Governor may, by Order in Council,
declare such assent to have been ascertained, and
thereupon the title of the aboriginal inhabitants in
the land to which the same shall relate, shall be
deemed to be extinguished, and the land shall, from
the date of such Order in Council, vest in Her
Majesty, for the purposes and subject to the pro-
visions of the said "Native Reserves Act, 1856," as
altered by the recited Act, and that as effectually as
if the same had been ceded and conveyed by such
aboriginal inhabitants to Her Majesty:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council, doth hereby declare that the assent of the
aboriginal inhabitants to the bringing the pieces of
land described in the Schedules A. and B. hereunder
written under the operation of the "Native Reserves
Act, 1856," has been ascertained.

SCHEDULE A.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Province of
Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing
by admeasurement five (5) acres and ten (10) perches
more or less, being portion of Native Reserve F.,
situated on the Ongaio Creek and Aorere River:
bounded towards the Eastward by a line bearing 7°
magnetic for a distance of two hundred (200) links;
towards the Northward by a line bearing 295° 10'
magnetic for a distance of one thousand five hundred
(1500) links; towards the North-west by a line for a
distance of one hundred and ninety (190) links, and
bounded towards the South-west and South partly by
high water mark on the bank of the Ongaio Creek,
partly by lines having the following bearings
(magnetic) and linkages, 98° one hundred and
eighty (180) links, 96° one hundred and fifty-four
(154) links, 106° one hundred and twenty-eight
(128) links, 130° one hundred and sixteen (116)
links, 118° one hundred (100) links, and 152° one
hundred and eighty-three (183) links, partly by a
line for a distance of forty (40) links, and partly by
high water mark on the bank of the Aorere River.

SCHEDULE B.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Province of
Nelson, in the Colony of New Zealand, containing
by admeasurement one (1) acre and twenty (20)
perches more or less, being portion of Native Reserve
E., situated on the Ongaio Creek and Aorere River:
bounded towards the Northwards partly by lines
having the following bearings (magnetic) and
linkages, 98° one hundred and eighty (180) links,
96° one hundred and fifty-four (154) links, 106°
one hundred and twenty-eight (128) links, 130° one
hundred and sixteen (116) links, 148° one hundred
(100) links, 152° one hundred and eighty-three (183)
links, and partly by a line forty (40) links, and
bounded towards the Southward by high water mark
on the bank of the Ongaio Creek.

WHEREAS by "The Military Pensions Act,
1866," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor from time to time to constitute
and appoint a Board or Boards of Medical Officers,
and to cancel or vary any appointment at pleasure,
such Board or Boards in each case to consist of not
less than three duly qualified medical practitioners:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and
exercise of the said power and authority, do hereby
appoint—

GEORGE CHAPMAN BREWSTER, M.D.,
ROBERT CHARLES EARLE, M. R. C. S. L.,
L.S.A., L.M., and
GEORGE HENRY GIBSON,

to constitute a Board of Medical Officers for the
purpose of carrying out the provisions of the said
recited Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this fifteenth day of October,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-
six.
