September next, during the erection of a Second
Order Dioptric Light on the Clock Tower, a
temporary Light will be exhibited on the Old Light-
house near the Flagstaff, at an elevation of 90 feet
above the sea.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Sitting of the
Compensation Court fixed to be holden at
Whanganui, on the 12th day of October next, to
investigate all claims over that portion of the Ngati-
ruanui Coast Block, which lies between the Kaupo-
konui and Whanganui Rivers, will be holden at
Whanganui, on the 3rd day of December next, instead
of the 12th day of October.

NOTICE is hereby given that an application has
been made by me, the undersigned John Cox
(of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand, mill-
wright), in accordance with "The Patents Act, 1860,"
for the issue of Letters Patent granting to me the
exclusive right to use a machine embracing certain
improvements for hackling or combing and cleaning
and otherwise preparing for use New Zealand flax
and other fibrous substances; and I hereby further
give notice that I require any person who may wish
to prefer any objection to the granting of such Letters
Patent, to send within four months from the publica-
tion hereof a statement in writing setting forth the
grounds of such objection, subscribed with his proper
