Appointing a Surveyor under the "Native Land
Act, 1862."

New Zealand General Government Eight per
cent Debentures.
BY ACT of the General Assembly of New
Zealand, the Colonial Treasurer is autho-
rised to raise TEMPORARY LOANS on Debentures
(to be repaid out of money to be borrowed
under the New Zealand Loan Act, 1863), with
a currency of from One to Three years, bearing
interest at the rate of 8 per cent per annum,
payable half-yearly, on the 1st day of January,
and the 1st day of July in every year.
The principal and interest will be made pay-
able at the Treasury in Wellington, New Zea-
land; at the Oriental Bank in Sydney or Mel-
bourne; or at the Bank of New Zealand, in
London at the option of the purchasers.
Tenders will be received until 12 o'clock,
noon, on WEDNESDAY, the 22nd day of Feb-
ruary, 1865, at the Bank of New Zealand, Wel-
lington, for the purchase of Β£25,000 of these
Debentures, specifying the total amount of
Debentures required, and the rate per cent
which will be given for the same-to be ad-
dressed to the "Manager of the Bank of New
Zealand, Wellington," with the words "Tender
for New Zealand General Government 8 per
cent Debentures" written on the outside.
Tenders will be opened in the presence of
the Colonial Treasurer and all persons in-
terested, at One o'clock, p.m., at the Bank
of New Zealand, Wellington, on WEDNES-
DAY, 22nd February, 1865. The highest
bidders shall be deemed the purchasers, pro-
vided the prices are not lower than the mini-
mum placed in a sealed paper on the table
before the Tenders are opened. Where Ten-
ders are made upon the same terms, a pro rata
distribution upon such Tenders will be made.
Debentures will be issued in such sums from
Twenty Pounds to One Thousand pounds, and
of such currency, from One to Three years, as
the successful Tenderers may elect, when
those receiving allocation of Debentures, or
their Agents, will be required to state at which
of the above places their principal and interest
are to be payable.
The Debentures contracted for will be de-
livered at the Bank of New Zealand, Welling-
ton, on Wednesday, the 1st day of March next,
between the hours of 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., upon
payment of the amount due thereon.
Copy of the Act of the Assembly, authorising
the issue of these Debentures, and of the
Order in Council under the hand of His Ex-
cellency the Governor, providing for the sale
of the same, may be seen on application to the
Managers of the Bank of New Zealand at
Wellingtou, Christchurch, and Dunedin, and
the Secretary of the Bank at Auckland.
