ocean; and towards the West by the Province of
Southland.
WEST TAIERI DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by the Lammermoor Ranges and Sutton's Stream;
towards the East by Waikouaiti and East Taieri
Districts; and towards the South and West by
Tokomairiro and Gabriel's Districts.
MOUNT BENGER DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceed-
ing from the north-west corner of Gabriel's Regis-
tration District in a northerly direction, and parallel
to the Clutha River to Spylaw Burn at its source;
thence by Spylaw Burn to the Pomahaka River;
thence to Wart Hill; thence to White Coomb;
thence by the Umbrella Mountains to a point due
west of Jordan Creek; thence of Jordan Creek at
its junction with the Clutha River; thence to South
Roughridge Hill; thence along the western boundary
of Hamilton Registration District to the Lammerlaw;
and thence in a south-westerly direction by the
boundary line of Gabriel's Registration District to
the starting point.
MANUHERIKIA DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceed
ing in a westerly direction from White Coomb to the
Wakaia River; thence by the Wakaia River to the
White Coomb Creek; thence by the ranges to Rocky
Mount; thence to the Obelisk; thence in a northerly
direction to a point due west of Earnscleugh Burn;
thence to Earnscleugh Burn at its junction with the
Clutha River; thence parallel to the Manuherikia
River to Spottis Burn; thence in a southerly direction
to the Raggedy Range; and by the watershed of Manor
Burn to South Roughridge Hill; thence in a westerly
direction by the boundary of Mount Benger Regis-
tration District.
GABRIEL'S DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceed
ing in a northerly direction, twenty chains distant
from and parallel to the Clutha River, from a point
opposite Crookburn to a point opposite Beaumont
Burn; thence to and along Beaumont Burn to its
source; thence to the Lammerlaw; thence along the
ranges to Maungatua Hill; thence by the boundary
of the West Taieri Hundred to a point south-east
of Waitahuna Hill; thence over Waitafuna Hill to
the watershed between the Waitahuna and Tuapeka
Rivers; thence to Crookburn at its source, and thence
along Crookburn, and across the Clutha River to the
starting point.
NOKOMAI DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceeding
from Lorn Peak to Rocky Mount; thence by the
ranges over the Steeple and East Dome to the
boundary of the Province of Southland; thence by
the boundary of the Province of Southland to a
point two miles above Allanburn; and thence in a
north-easterly direction to Lorn Peak, the starting
point:
DUNSTAN DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceeded
from the northern corner of Manuherikia Registration
District to the Dunstan Creek at its junction with
the Manuherikia River; thence by the said creek to
the Dunstan Mountains; thence to Park Burn at its
junction with the Clutha River; thence by Parki
Burn to its source; thence to Kirtle Burn, at the
junction of its first feeder; thence by Kirtle Burn
to the Kawarau River; thence by the Kawarau
River to a point due north of Ben Nevis; thence by
the ranges to Lorn Peak; thence by the Nokomai
and Manuherikia Registration Districts to the
starting point.
BLACKSTONE DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by a line proceeding from the northern corner of
the Dunstan Registration District to Mount St.
Bathans; towards the East by the Oamaru Registra-
tion District; towards the South by the Hamilton
Registration District; and towards the West by the
Manuherikia and Dunstan Registration Districts.
HAMILTON DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded by a line proceeding
from Lammerlaw, along the watershed of the Upper
Taieri River to South Roughridge Hill; thence to
North Roughridge Hill; thence to Mount Ida
thence by the Oamaru, Waikouaiti and West Taieri
Registration Districts to the starting point.
WAITAHUNA DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded towards the North
and East by Gabriel's Registration District; towards
the South by the Tokomairiro Registration District;
and towards the West by the Clutha River.
NORTH MOLYNEUX DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by Dencher Burn; thence to Stoney Creek; thence
by Stoney Creek to the Tuakitoto Lake; thence
towards the East by the eastern shore of the
Tuakitoto Lake to Two Stone Creek; thence by Two
Stone Creek to the leading ridge direct to Wangaloa
Creek; thence by Wangalos Creek to the ocean;
thence towards the South by the ocean to the Clutha
River; and thence towards the West by the Clutha
River and its Koau branch to the junction of
Deucher Burn, the starting point.
TOKOMAIRIRO DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded from the Clutha
River by the northern boundary of the North Toko-
mairiro and West Taieri Hundreds to the Waipori
River; thence by the Waipori River and Lake, and
the Taieri River to the ocean; thence by the ocean
to the Wangaloa Creek; thence by the North
Molyneux Registration District to the Clutha River;
and by the Clutha River to the starting point.
WANAKA DISTRICT,
comprises all that area bounded towards the North
by the Province of Canterbury; towards the East by
the Oamaru District; towards the South by the
Blackstone and Dunstan Registration Districts; and
towards the West by the Arrow and Wakatip Regis-
tration Districts.
And I do declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation and take effect on the first day
of February, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-
six.
Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir
George Grey, Knight Commander of
the Most Honorable Order of the Bath,
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, at the
Government House, at Wellington, and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
this thirtieth day of November, in the
year of our Lord One thousand eight
hundred and sixty-five.
