within the Canterbury District, as constituted by the
said Proclamation of the twenty-third day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, save
and excepting such portion thereof as is hereby
included within the Westland District, shall be and
the same is hereby constituted a district for the
purposes of the said Act and be called the "Canter-
bury District." And in further pursuance of the
power vested in me by the said Act, I do hereby,
with the advice and consent aforesaid, proclaim and
declare that I assign the said Westland and Canter-
bury Districts to HENRY BARNES GRESSON, and the
said Middle District to ALEXANDER JAMES JOHNSTON,
Esquires, respectively, Judges of the said Court, and
that Circuit Courts shall be holden for the Middle
and Canterbury Districts at the times and places
heretofore appointed, and for the Westland District
at the town of Hokitika in every year, on the
fifteenth day of January and the fifteenth day of
July, or as soon after the said days respectively as
conveniently may be, and in case any one of the said
days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a
Sunday or holiday, then the Court appointed for
such day shall be holden on the day following.

Given under my hand, at the Government
House, at Wellington, and issued under
the seal of the Colony of New Zealand,
this twelrth day of October, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and sixty-five.

A PROCLAMATION
Appointing a District for the formation of Jury Lists.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, Knight
Commander of the Most Honorable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS an Ordinance was passed by the
Governor and Legislative Council of New
Zealand (Session II., No. 3), intituled "An Ordi-
nance to regulate the constitution of Juries;" and a
further Ordinance was passed by the Governor and
the said Council (Session III., No. 2), intituled
"An Ordinance to make temporary provision for the
constitution of Juries;" and whereas it is enacted
by "The Jury Law Amendment Act, 1862," that the
Governor in Council may from time to time, by
proclamation in the Government Gazette of the
Colony, define the limits of Districts for the forma-
tion of Jury Lists under the said Ordinances:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor
as aforesaid of the said Colony, with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in
exercise of the power and authority for this purpose
in me vested by the said recited Act, do hereby
proclaim and declare the place within the following
limits in the Province of Canterbury to be a District
for the formation of Jury Lists under the said recited
Ordinances, viz. :-A radius of twenty miles round
the town of Hokitika.

the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand,
this twelfth day of October, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred

Warrant appointing Additional Polling Places.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, Knight
Commander of the Most Honorable Order
of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand, and Vice-Admiral of the
same, &c., &c., &c.

TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME,
GREETING:—

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly,
intituled "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor by warrant under his hand, from time to
time, to appoint polling places for each electoral
district within or without the limits thereof, and to
appoint any one of such places to be the principal
polling place for the district, and all or any of such
polling places at any time to abolish, and to appoint
other polling places in lieu thereof. And whereas by
another Act of the General Assembly, intituled "The
Provincial Elections Act, 1858," it is enacted that,
subject to certain provisions therein contained, every
election of the Superintendent or of a Member of the
Provincial Council of a Province shall be conducted
in the manner prescribed by "The Regulation of
Elections Act, 1858," aforesaid, and all the provisions
of the said last-mentioned Act shall apply to the
elections of Superintendents and Members of Pro-
vincial Councils:

Now know ye, that I, Sir George Grey, the
Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the
power and authority in me vested by the said Acts,
do hereby appoint the following places to be addi-
tional polling places for the districts hereinafter
mentioned, for the election of Superintendent of the
Province of Auckland, namely:—

FOR RAGLAN-Post Office, Te Awamutu; Resident
Magistrate's Court House, Alexandra; do.,
Port Waikato; do., Drury.

FOR FRANKLIN-Mr. Sellar's House, Tauranga;
Resident Magistrate's Court House, Drury;
Court House, Queen Street, Auckland.

FOR TOWN OF ONEHUNGA-Court House, Queen
Street, Auckland.

FOR THE NORTHERN DIVISION-Post Office, Wai-
wera.

Given under my hand at Government House,
at Wellington, this fifth day of October,
in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and sixty-five.
