ORDER IN COUNCIL,
Proclaiming certain Lands under "New Zealand
Settlements Act, 1863."

At the Government House, at Auckland, the
thirtieth day of January, 1865.
Present:-

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by the "New Zealand Settlements
Act, 1863," it was enacted amongst other
things that whenever the Governor in Council should
be satisfied that any Native tribe or section of a
tribe or any considerable number thereof have, since
the first day of January, 1863, been engaged in
rebellion against Her Majesty's authority, it should
be lawful for the Governor in Council to declare that
the districts within which any land, being the pro-
perty or in the possession of such tribe or section or
considerable number thereof should be situate, should
be a district within the provisions of the said Act,
and the boundaries of such district in like manner to
define and vary as he should think fit.

And whereas the Governor in Council is satisfied
that certain Native tribes or sections of tribes,
having respectively as their property or in their
possession the lands in the district hereunder de-
scribed, have been engaged in rebellion against Her
Majesty's authority.

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise of the power vested in him by the said recited
Act, doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the Colony, declare that from
the date hereof the land described in each of the two
schedules to this Order shall be a district within the
provisions of the "New Zealand Settlements Act,
1863," and shall be designated by the name men-
tioned in such schedule, and doth declare that the
said lands are required for the purposes of the said
Act, and are subject to the provisions thereof, and
doth order that the said lands shall be and the same
are hereby set apart and reserved as sites for settle-
ment and colonization, agreeably to the provisions
of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.
EAST WAIROA BLOCK.
All that Land known as East Wairoa Block:
Bounded on the North by the Wairoa River and the
Northern boundary of the lands intended to be con-
fiscated, as set forth in the Proclamation of 17th
December, 1864; on the East by the Eastern
boundary of such confiscated lands; on the South by
the Maungatawhiri River, from the Surrey Redoubt
to the Eastern boundary of the Pokeno Block, as
described in Proclamation of 29th December, 1864;
and on the West, by the said Pokeno Block.

SCHEDULE.
WEST PUKEKOHE BLOCK.
All that Land known as the West Pukekohe Block,
supposed to contain 1133 acres: Bounded on the
North by Lot No. 38, Parish of Pukekohe, 7,100
links; on the East, by the Pukekohe Native Reserve,
30,084 links; on the South by Lot 44, Parish of
Pukekohe, 2,160 links; and on the West by Lot No.
78, Parish of Pune, 2,640 links, and 4,660 links, and
by a Road 28,030 links to commencing point.

of the Bath, Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same,
&c., &c., &c.
