Postage on Correspondence on Public
Service.

General Post Office,
Wellington, 19th January, 1865.

IN consequence of the abolition of the sys-
tem of franking correspondence on the
public service to go free by post, Notice is
hereby given that from and after the 1st
proximo, Postmasters will be authorized to
receive such correspondence without prepay-
ment, and prefer quarterly accounts for the
postage against the Department posting the
same. It will be requisite that all letters, &c.,
should bear the designation of the Depart-
ment transmitting them.

ALL Officers of Government. and other per-
sons are requested from and after this
date when communicating with the undermen-
tioned Departments of Government, to address
their correspondence to Wellington.

The Department of Minister for
