contracts, it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council to cause Towns to be surveyed and laid out,
and also Suburban and Rural Allotments; and that
all such Town, Suburban, and Rural Land shall be let,
sold, occupied and disposed of for such prices, in such
manner, and for such purposes, upon such terms and
subject to such regulations, as the Governor in
Council shall from time to time prescribe for that
purpose:
And whereas Towns and Farms, and Suburban and
Rural Allotments, have been laid out on parts of the
land taken under the provisions of the said Act, and
other Towns and Farms will be hereafter so laid out,
for the purposes aforesaid:
And whereas certain persons, who are or may be
found to be entitled to compensation under the pro-
visions of the said Act, may prefer that such compen-
sation should be made to them land rather than in
money; and it is expedient to make regulations to
enable the Government to carry into effect arrange-
ments that may be made in their behalf, and also
regulations for the letting, selling, occupying, and
disposing of, such Towns, Farms, Suburban and
Rural Allotments:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the Colony, by virtue and in pursuance of the said
authority, and of all other authorities, doth hereby
Order, that the following shall be the Regulations
for the purposes aforesaid :-
Sufficient Land shall be set apart for-
- Roads and public purposes.
- For the location of Military and other Settlers
introduced by the Government, to be de-
voted to their use according to the tenure
of their several contracts. - For compensation to persons entitled to, and
in lieu of, money compensation as hereafter
mentioned.
The remaining Land shall be divided into lots for
sale, and shall be sold by public auction: Provided
that any Land may be sold to the Superintendent
of the Province in which it is situate by private
contract.
For any of the purposes aforesaid, the Land may
be divided into Town, Suburban, and Rural Lands.
Plans of all such Lands as aforesaid shall be kept
on record, and open to public inspection.
No Land shall be sold by auction until at least one
month's notice shall have been published in the
Gazette of the Province in which the Land is
situate.
The upset price shall not be less than Ten Shillings
per acre, and shall be set by the Chief Surveyor, or
other officer to be duly appointed for that pur-
pose.
The purchase-money for Land shall be paid as
follows: Twenty-five (25) per cent. on the day of
sale, and the remainder within one month. If either
of the payments is not made, the sale will be annulled.
If the former is made and the latter is not duly made,
the amount paid will be forfeited, and the sale an-
nulled. In either case, the Land may be sold
again.
Any Agent of the Government, duly authorised,
may agree with any person who may be entitled to
compensation under the provisions of the "New
Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," that such person
shall receive such portion of the said Suburban and
Rural Land, in lieu of money compensation, as may
be agreed upon between such person and agent.

Proclaiming certain Lands under "New Zealand
Settlements Act, 1863."

At the Government House, at Auckland, the
sixteenth day of May, 1865.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the "New Zealand Settlements
Act, 1863," it was enacted amongst other
things that whenever the Governor in Council should
be satisfied that any Native Tribe or section of a
Tribe, or any considerable number thereof have since
the first day of January, 1863, been engaged in
rebellion against Her Majesty's authority, it should
be lawful for the Governor in Council to declare that
the district within which any land being the property
or in the possession of such Tribe or section or con-
siderable number thereof should be situate, should be
a District within the provisions of the said Act, and
the boundaries of such District in like manner to
define and vary as he should think fit:
And whereas the Governor in Council is satisfied
that certain Native Tribes or sections of Tribes
having respectively as their property or in their
possession the lands hereunder described, have
been engaged in rebellion against Her Majesty's
authority:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in
exercise of the power vested in him by the said
recited Act, doth hereby with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council of the Colony, declare that
from the date hereof, the land described in each of
the four schedules to this Proclamation shall be a
District within the provisions of the "New Zealand
Settlements Act, 1863," and shall be designated by
the name mentioned in such schedule, and doth
declare that the said lands are required for the
purposes of the said Act, and are subject to the
provisions thereof, and doth order that the said lands
shall be and the same are hereby set apart and
reserved as sites for settlement and colonisation
agreeably to the provisions of the said Act.

SCHEDULES REFERRED TO.
Mangare Block.
All that land known as the Mangare Block,
bounded on the North by the Manukau Harbor, on
the West by lots No. 86 and 85 in the parish of
Manurewa, on the South by lots No. 84, 83, 50 and
49, all in the parish of Manurewa, and by the
Ararata Creek to the Manukau Harbor.
Pukaki Blocks.
All that land known as the Pukaki Blocks, and
which are bounded on the North by lots No. 73, 72,
57, 52, 53 and 43, all in the parish of Manurewa; on
the East by Clendon's grant and the Otaimako
Creek, on the South by Manukau Harbor, by
Pukaki Creek, and by the western branch of Pukaki
Creek to lot No. 73 in the parish of Manurewa first
above mentioned.
Ihumatau Block.
All that land known as the Ihumatau Block,
bounded on the North by the Waitamokia Creek, on
the West by Manukau Harbor, on the East by lots
No. 89 and 90 in the parish of Manurewa, and on
the South by the Manukau Harbor.
Keri Keri, or Pukekiwiriki Block.
All that piece of land known as the Keri Keri
Block, near Papakura, containing about 2730 acres,
and bounded on the North by the Wairoa Road, and
